Proceedings of Board of Commissioners City of Paducah May 9, 1961
At a Regular Ideeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber
of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on May 9, 1961, Mayor Cherry presided
and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Davis,
Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Cherry (4), Commissioner Hook being absent (1)
Mayor Cherry offered motion that bhe reading of the Minutes for April 25, 1961
be waived and that the Minutes of said meeting prepared by the City Clerk be apporved
as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson
and Mayor Cherry (4).
Commissioner Davis offered motion that Gene Bell be employed temporarily as a
laborer in the Floodwall Department of the City, at a salary of ;)1.391 per hour, effectil
May 9, 1961. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholsor
and Mayor Cherry (4).
Contract KentucCommissioner Davis offered motion that the executed copy of the Contract between
Asphalt Sales Goffkg�
the City of Paducah and Kentucky Asphalt Sales Company for sale to the City of liquid

✓ Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the Board of Commissioners approve the
sale by the City of Paducah to Willie Kittrell of th north east corner of Lot No. 11
in Block No. 8 of the Rushing Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery, and that the City Clerk
be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery grave. Adppted on call
of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Cherry (4).
Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the executed copy of the Contract betw
the City of Paducah and Emulsified Asphalt Company, for the sale to the City of
Emulsified Asphalt during the year 1961, be received and filed. Adopted on call of
Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Cherry (4).

Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the Performance Bond in the amount
of $2,500.00, furnished by Emulsified Asphalt Company, be received and filed. Adopted
on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Cherry (4).
Commissioner Gholson offered motion that Jim Harned be employed temporarily
as a laborer in the Floodwall Department of the City, at a salary of ;11.391 per hour,
effective May 9, 1961. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis,
Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Cherry (4).
Commissioner Gholson offered the following motion: Ubon recommendation of T.
Bradley, City Engineer, I move that Ronald L. Johnson be appointed as Rodman in the
Engineering Department of the City of Paducah, said employment to be under Civil Service
and at the salary provided by ordinance. Said appointment to be effective June 1, 1961,1,

Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the executed copy of the Contract
between the City of Paducah and Milam Motorcycle Shop, for sale to the City of one new
1961 Model G 3 -wheel motorcycle for use in the Police Department, be received and filed.

Cherry (4).
Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the following bids submitted for sale
to the City of One Dempster Dumpster Uoist Unit, be received and filed:

Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the Board of Commissioners approve
the sale by the City of Paducah to William Curtis Morton of the south west corner of
Lot No. 19 in Block No. 8 of the Rushing Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery, and that the
City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery grave.

Cherry (4).
Mayor Cherry offered motion that Ronald Hall be employed in the Pdhite Park
Department of the City, effective Ploy 16, 1961. The said Ronald Hall to work forty (40
hours per week and be paid at the rate of 31.28 per hour. Adopted on call of t)}e
Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Cherry (4).
Mayor Cherry offered motion that the letter from Ralph B. Borchelt, President
Paducah -McCracken County Oilmen's Association, thanking the City Commission for adoptin
an ordinance providing 72,000 pounds maximum limit for trucks within the city limits of
Paducah, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners
Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hank and Mayor Cherry (4).
Mayor Cherry offered motion that the Board of Commissioners approve the sale
by the City of Paducah to Mrs. Catherine Shaw pf the south east corner of Lot No. 19
in Block No. 8 of the Rushing Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery, and that the City Clerk
be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery grave. Adopted on call

Mayor Cherry offered motion that the performance bond in the amount of 32,500.00
furnished by Kentucky Asphalt Sales Company be received and filed. Adopted on call
of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Cherry (4).
Mayor Cherry offered motion that the Performance Bond in the amount of Y1,500.00
furnished by Reed Crushed Stone Company, Inc. be received and filed. Adopted on call

Mayor Cherry offered motion that Frank Noling be employed as a Park Policeman (wF.
at a salary of ;)1$0.00 per month, retroactive to I•lay 6, 1961. This employment is tem-
porary and the employee shall acquire no rights under any Civil Service Statute or
Ordinance. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson

Commissioner Davis offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE
AP'TENDING SECTION 1 OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED: IAN ORDINANCE FIXING AND ADJUSTING THE
RATES OF PAY FOR CERTAIN NON -CIVIL SERVICE EIIPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH', IdHICH '..IAS

Mayor Cherry offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE
APPORTIONMENT OF THE PUBLIC FUNDS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, FOR THE YEAR 1961
AND APPROPRIATING THE PUBLIC REVENUE AND INCOME OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH FOR SUCH PURPOSES
be introduced and remain on file for at least one (1) week for public inspection in the
completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage. Adopted on call of
the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Cherry (4).
On motion the meeting adjourned.
