Proceedings of Board of Commissioners City of Paducah October 25, 1960
At a Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber
of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on October 25, 1960, Mayor Pro Tem
Hook presided in the absence of Mayor Cherry and upon call•of the Roll the following
answered to their names: Commissioners Davis; Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Pro Tem
Hook (1+).
Mayor Pro Tem Hook offered motion that the reading of the Minutes for October 11th,
14th and 18th, 1960 be waived and that the Minutes of said meeting prepared of the City
Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis,
Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Pro Tem Hook (4)
Commissioner Davis offered the following motion: I move that the petition signed
by residents in the vicinity of 30th & Madison Streets requesting the installation
of a street light at the intersection, together with a report from the police depart-
ment recommending same, be received and filed.
I further move that the City Manager request the Kentucky Utilities Company to
install a light at the above location. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners
Davis, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Pro Tem Hook (4).
Petition / Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the petition signed by James Belcher and

32nd Madison others requesting that the city level and gravel the alley from 31st Street to 32nd
& Harrison
Street between Madison and Harrison Streets, be received and filed. Adopted on call

Water main I Commissioner Davis offered the following motion: I move that a contract entered int

Farrington on the 25th day of October, 1960, by and between Paducah Water Works, party of the first

part, and I, Donald Farrington and his wife, Mary Lee Farrington, parties of the second
part, relative to the construction of a six inch cast iron water main on Woodland Drive,
1 near the city limits of Paducah, Kentucky, said main extending from the Easterly line of
itNorth Central Avenue, if extended across Woodland Drive to the Easterly line of Rustic
Avenue, thence along Woodland Drive to a point in the Northerly line of Brookfield Drive,
a distance of abproximately 1,450 feet, and located in McCracken County, Kentucky, and
outside the corporate limits of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be received and filed,
and that said contract be approved in accordance with the terms set forth therein.

Settlement Commissioner Davis offered motion that the reports of the Paducah Water Works be

Refuse Sept. received and filed, and that the following checks be turned over to the City Treasurer
to be deposited in the proper accounts:

Citizens Bank Commissioner Fendley offered the following motion: I move that the blueprint

further move that the letter from Fred L. Nagel, President of Citizens Bank & Trust Com]
requesting permission to install such slab and sidewalk doors on the 4th Street side of
its bank building, be received and filed; and further move that said request be and it
is hereby granted. .Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis,

Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the resignation of Leon Elrod as a
member of the Paducah Police Department, effective October 22, 1960, be received,
accepted and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley,
Gholson and Mayor Pro Tem Hook (4).
Commissioner Gholson offered motion that a Resolution entitled: "A RESOLUTION
AUTHORIZING THE CITY 14ANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF SANITARY
SEWERAGE IMii'ROVEMENTS IN BELLF2EADE ADDITION, AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND MANNER
IN WHICH SAID BIDS SHALL BE RECEIVED", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll,
Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Pro Tem Hook (4).
Commissioner Davis offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE
ACCEPTING THE BID OF KING-WOODALL MOTORS, INC. FOR THE SALE TO THE CITY OF THREE
(3) NEW 1961 AUTOMOBILES FOR USE IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH,
KENTUCKY, AND PRESCRIBING THE CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE",
be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley,
Gholson, and'Maydr Pro.Tem Hook(4).
Commissioner Davis offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING SECTION 1 OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED: 'AN ORDINANCE CREATING A BOARD OF PARK
COMMISSIONERS FOR THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY AND PRESCRIBING THE MEMBERSHIP, TERMS
OF OFFICE AND DUTIES OF SUCH BOARD', WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ON
SEBTEMBER 23, 1958", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners
Davis, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Pro Tem Hook (4).
Commissioner Fendley offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE
ACCEPTING THE BID OF WEST KENTUCKY MOTOR COMPANY, INC. FOR THE SALE TO THE CITY OF TWO
(2) NEW PANEL TRUCKS FOR USE IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY,
AND PRESCRIBING THE CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE", be adopted.
Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, and Mayor Pro

On motion the meeting adjourned.
