At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber
of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on September 27, 1960, Mayor Cherry
presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners
Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook,and Mayor Cherry (5).
.'ayor Cherry offered motion that the reading of the Minutes for September 13, 1960
be waived and that the Minutes of said meeting prepared by the City Clerk be approved as
written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson,
Hook and Mayor Cherry (5).
Commissioner Davis offered the following motion: I move that the petition of
Loren M. Jones, for permission to make one 3/4 inch connection to the existing 6" water
main owned by Paducah .later :Yorks, for the purpose of rurnishing water to one residence
only to be constructed upon a lot fronting 90 feet on the northeast side of north
Uoodland Drive in McCracken County, Kentucky, and outside the corporate limits of the
City of Paducah, Kentucky, be received and filed and that the request in said petition
be granted in accordance with the terms and conditions in said petition. Adopted on
call of the Roll, Yeas,Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Payor Cherry (5).
Commissioner Fendley offered the following motion: I move that the petition of
Ylilliam L. Spann and his wife, Goldie A. Spann, for permission to make one 3/4 -inch
connection to the existing privately owned water pipe line of the Husbands Road
Community !later Company for the purpose of furnishing water to one residence only
constructed upon a lot owned by petitioners fronting 125.40 feet on the west side of
Husbands Road in McCracken County, Kentucky, be received and filed and that the request
petitioned for therein be granted subject to the terms and conditions in said petition.

Mayor Cherry (5).
Commissioner havis offered motion that the Bond of Billy J. Blackford dba
Blackford Plumbing Fc Heating Company in the amount of ,1000.00 dated August 30, 1960,
be received, approved and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners
Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5).
Commissioner Davis offered motion that the reports 6f the Paducah :Yater Works be
received and filed, and that the followring checks be turned over to the Eity Treasurer
to be deposited in the proper accounts:
Refuse collections for August, 1960 ."10,563.85
Sewer Service Charges for August, 1960 10,480.00
Bad refuse accounts collected during August 6:60

Commissioner Davis off4red motion that this Board receive, approve and file Rider
to be attached to the Bond of Geurin Concrete Products, increasing the amount of the
Bond from }2000.00 to 34000.00. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners

Commissioner Fendley o{'£ered motion that the employment of Henry Porter, as a
seasonal laborer in the "emetery Department, be terminated as of Friday, September 30,

Commissiohor Fendley offered motion that the certified copy of a Resolution adopted
on September 14, 1960 by the Electric Plant Board authorizing the execution of the
Tennessee Valley Authority power, contract, be received and filed. Adopted on call
of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and iiayor Cherry (5).
Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the folloiring bids for construction of
the South Side Fire Station be received and filed:

Commissioner Gholson offered motion that Don Brelsford be reinstated as a Labor
the Refuse Division of the Public ,'forks Department, retroactively effective as of Septem
ber 1, 1960, at a salary of 'e1.35e per hour. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas,
Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5).
e/ Commissioner Gholson offered motion that James P. Hyatte be appointed as Auto
Repairman in the Public 'forks Department, said employment to be under civil service and
at the salary provided by ordinance. Said appointment to be effective October 1, 1960.

ery Commissioner Gholson offered the following motion: I move that the Board of

Commissioners approve the transfer from Harold biarable and others to Josephene Hopkins
of the following property in Oak.Grove Cemetery:
Being a part of Lot No. 364, Section 23, in Oak Grove
Cemetery, and being the north half of the north half of
said Lot No. 364, with space for four graves.
I further move that the City Clerk be directed to make the proper transfer
on the Cemetery Register. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis,
Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5).
Freddie Bundle Commissioner Hook offered motion that Freddie Bundren be appointed as Mechanic

civil service and at the salary provided by ordinance. Said appointment to be effective

Commissioner hook offered motion that the Board of Commissioners approve the
sale by the City of Paducah to Mrs. Essie Story of the south east corner of Lot No. 16
in Block No. S of the Rushing Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery, and that the City Clerk
be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery grave. Adopted on call
of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hoof: and ;payor Cherry (5).
Mayor Cherry offered the following motion: I move that the following temporary
laborers in the Department of Public works be placed under civil service under Section
8-B of the Appointive Employeesr Civil Service Ordinance as of the following dates:

seasonal laborer in the Cemetery Department, be terminated as of Friday, September 30,

Mayor Cherry offered motion that the letter from the Board Members of the
Joseph S. Friedman Community Center, thanking the city for the dirt for their building
addition, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners

Mayor Cherry offered motion that the employment of Sylvester Orr as a seasonal
laborer in the Cemetery Department, be terminated as of Friday, September 30, 1960.

Ilayot�Cherry offered motion that the claim of Idrs. W. F. Darden, 1031 Park
Avenue, Paducah, Kentucky, in the sum of v"1,0.21 for injuries received because of an
alleged defect in the sidewalk at 3rd and Broadway, on August 26, 1960 be allowed
and the Treasurer pay said amount- to her after securing a full and complete release.
