At a Regular Meeting of the Board of. Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber
of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on August 9, 1960, Mayor Pro Tem
Hook presided in the absence of Mayor Cherry, .and upon call of the Roll the following
answered to their names: Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Pro Tem
Hook (4), Mayor Cherry being absent.
Mayor Pro Tem Hook offered motion that the reading of the Minutes for July 26 and
29th and August 3 and 4, 1960 be waived and that the Minutes of said meeting prepared
by the City Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas,
Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Pro Tem Hook (4).
Commissioner Davis offered motion that the petition of Louis E. Crolley,
Petitioner, and John K. MacDonald, Jr. Attorney, protesting against award of Contract
for Fairmont Sanitary Sewerage Improvements - Contract No. 1, to Gilbert's Plumbing &
Heating Company, Inc, be received, filed and referred to the Corporation Counsel.
Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, rendley, Gholson and Mayor
Pro Tem Hook (4).
Commissioner Gholson offered motion that Norman Keith Copy, a non -civil service
employee of the Floodwall Department, be placed under civil service in said department
as a Floodwall Maintenance Dian under Sub -Section 1 of Section 8-D of the Appointive
employees' Civil Service Ordinance effective retroactively to July 1, 1960. Adopted on
call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Pro Ten Hook (4)
Commissioner Gholson offered motion that Thomas 0. McKinney be employed as
temporary laborer in the Cemetery Department effective as of August 9, 1960, at $1.261
per hour, such employment not being under civil service. Adopted on call of the Roll,
Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Pro Tem Hook (4).
Commissioner Gholson offered the following motion: I move that the following
named persobs be, and they are hereby, employed as temporary laborers in the Public
Works Department, Street Division, of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, at a salary of
$1.231 per hour, retroactively effective as of August 8, 1960. Such employment not
being under civil service.

Commissioner Davis offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE
REPEALING AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED: 'AN ORDINANCE DECLARING IT DESIRABLE THAT THE CITY
OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, ACQUIRE BY PURCHASE AND OPERATE A MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC PLANT AND
ORDERING AN ELECTION BY THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF SUB CITY TO BE HELD ON THE REGULAR
ELECTION DAY, NOVEMBER 8, 1960, IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY TO DETERMINE THE
QUESTION 1,7HETHER OR NOT THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, SHALL ACQUIRE THE ELECTRIC PLANT
OF KENTUCKY UTILITIES COMPANY WITHIN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND ISSUE AND
SELL REVENUE BONDS IN THE AtdOUNT NECESSARY TO PAY THE RELATED COSTS AND EXPENSES',

II DECLARING IT DESIRABLE THAT THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, ACQUIRE BY PURCHASE AND
OPERATE A MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC PLANT AND ORDERING AN ELECTION BY THE QUALIFIED VOTERS
OF SAID CITY TO BE HELD ON THE REGULAR ELECTION DAY, NOVEMBER 8, 1960, IN THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, TO DETERMINE THE QUESTION WHETHER OR NOT THE CITY OF PADUCAH,
KENTUCKY, SHALL ACQUIRE THE ELECTRIC PLANT OF KENTUCKY UTILITIES COMPANY WITHIN THE
CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND ISSUE AND SELL REVENUE BONDS IN THE APdOUNT NECESSARY
TO PAY THE RELATED COSTS AND EXPENSES", be introduced and remain on file for at least
one (1) week for public inspection in the completed form in which it shall be put
upon its final passage. Adopted on call of the Roll, ,Yeas, Commissioners Davis,
Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Pro Tem Hook (4).
On motion the meeting adjourned.
