At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission
Chamber of.the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on February 24, 1959, I:ayor
Jacobs presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names:
Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5).
Mayor Jacobs offered motion that the reading of the Minutes for February 10,
14 and 16, 1959 be waived and that the Minutes of said meetings as prepared by the
City Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commission-
ers Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5).
Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the petition signed by Firs. William
F. Holt, Sr, and others, requesting the installation of a street light on the corner
of 30th and Harrison Streets, together with the report of the police department, be
received and filed.
He further moved that the City Manager direct the Kentucky Utilities Company
to install said light. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst,.
Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5).
Commissioner Fairhurst offered motion that the resignation of Darwin L. Reed,
rodman in.the Engineering Department of the City of Paducah, be received, filed and
accepted, effective February 25, 1959. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas,
Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5).
Commissioner Fairhurst offered motion that the reports of the Paducah Water
Works be received and filed and that the following checks be turned over to the City
Treasurer to be deposited in the proper accounts:
Sevier Service Charges for January, 1959 x9,508.50
Refuse Collections for January, 1959. 9,372.85
Bad Refuse Accounts collected during January 6.60
Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook
and Mayor Jacobs (5).
Commissioner Fendley offered the following motion: I move that the letter
of February 14, 1959 from 'Jilliam L. Rutter, Assistant Treasurer to the Mayor, Board
of Commissioners and City Manager, recommending that the sum of ;x50.098.93 of funds
in the General Sinking Fund be invested in U. S. Treasury Certificates of Indebtedness
due February 16, 1960, be received and filed; and I further move that he be, and he is
hereby,, authorized to purchase from such General Sinking Fund the aforesaid amount
in U. S. Treasury Certificates of Indebtedness due February 16, 1960. Adopted on cal
of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and iayor Jacobs (5).
Commissioner Gholson offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE
ACCEPTING THE BID OF BRANDEIS MACHINERY & SUPPLY COMPANY, INC. FOR THE PURCHASE OF ONE
NESS MOTOR GRADER, AND PRESCRIBING THE CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SAID PURCHASE SHALL DE
MADE", be introduced and remain on file for public inspection for at least one (1)
week in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage. Adopted
on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and i;ayor
Jacobs (5).

I" Commissioner Hook offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "Ail ORDINANCE
PROPOSING ANNEXATION OP CERTAIN PROPERTY LYING ADJACENT TO THE WEST CORPORATE LIDUTS
OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY; DEFINING ACCURATELY THE BOUNDARY OF SUCH TERRITORY
TO BE ANNEXED TO SAID CITY; AND DECLARING THE DESIRABILITY AND NECESSITY OF SUCH
ANNEXATION", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst,
Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5).
Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the petition of i.ir. and idrs. Edw. 11.
Krinard and others objecting to the annexation of their property in Orchard Heights,
lying west of the city limits and north of the Pines Road, be received and filed.
Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and
Mayor Jacobs (5).
Commissioner Fendley offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "Aid ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY TO NOTIFY THE KENTUCKY UTILITIES
COMPANY IN I9RITIIIG THAT THE CITY DESIRES TO ACQUIRE, G*1 AND OPERATE A MUNICIPAL ELECTRI(
PLANT WITHIN THE CITY; AND TO N017IFY SAID COr-TANY IN WRITING OF THE DESIRE OF THE CITY T(
ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT AS TO THE VALUE OF THE ELECTRIC SYSTEM OUNED BY SAID C0I•SPANY
WITHIN SAID CITY; PROVIDING FOR THE INITIATION OP PROCEEDINGS TO ACQUIRE TO EXISTING
ELECTRIC SYSTEI�j Gi1NED BY SAID COMPANY WITHIN SAID CITY; AND AUTHORIZING SUCH OTHER
STEPS AS MAYBE APPROPRIATE OR REQUIRED UNDER EXISTING LAWS", be adopted. Adopted on
call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs
(5).
On motion the meeting adjourned.
