At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission
Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 o'clock P.id. on August 26, 1955,
f+.--3yor Pro Tem Hook presided in the absence of Mayor Jacobs and upon call of the Roll
the following answered to their names: Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson
and Mayor Pro Tem Hook (4).
Mayor Pro Tem Hook offered motion that the reading of the f4inutes for
August 12, 1955 be waived and that the Minutes of said meeting as prepared by the City
Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners
Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Pro Tem Hoole (4).
Commissioner Fairhurst offered motion that the petition of B. H. Green,
for permission to make one 3/grinch connection to the 5 -inch water main owned by the
Paducah :later Works located on Friedman Lane, for the purpose of furnishing water to
one residence only to be constructed upon Lot Uo. 3 of Windsor -woods Subdivision
fronting 150 feet on the East Side of Friedman Lane in McCracken County, Kentucky,
and outside the corporate limits of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be received and
filed and that the request in said petition be granted in accordance with the terms
and conditions in said petition. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners
Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Pro Tem Hook (4).
Commissioner Fairhurst offered motion that Alvin L. Harper be employed as
a temporary laborer in the Public 'forks Department of the City of Paducah at .21.171
per hour, retroactively effective as of August 25, 1955. Adopted on call of the
Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Pro Tom Hook (4).
Commissioner Fairhurst offered motion that John Olden Thomas be employed
as a temporary laborer in the Public works Department of the City of Paducah at ;1.171
per hour, retroactively effective as of August 25, 1955. Adopted on call of the
Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Pro Tem Hook (4).
Commissioner Fairhurst offered motion that Hugh Holland be employed as
a temporary laborer in the Public :•forks Department of the City of Paducah at

Commissioner Fendley offered the following motion: I move that the Affidavit of

I further move that this Board approve the transfer of the said Lot No. 13 in
V, Section No. 3 in said cemetery from Clarence P. Owens to Lillian L. Mason, and that

Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the Board of Commissioners approve
the sale by the City of Paducah to George Tucker of the east one-half of Lot- No. 48
in Block No. 7 of the Rushing Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery, and that the City Cleric
be authorized to e;:ecute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery grave. Adopted on call
of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Pro Tom Ilook (1,)
Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the Board of Commissioners approve the
sale by the City of Paducah to Grace Savannah Johnson of the northwest corner of Lot 3,

be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery grave. Adopted on call

on a sidewalk at or near 21st and Jackson Streets, be allowed, and that the City
Treasurer be and he is hereby authorized to issue a check in said amount to her order

Commissioner Fendley offered the following motion: 'IHEREAS, on July 22, 1958
"e.:2"
Permi`. _._. Section 64-B was, by ordinance, added to the Business License Ordinance of the City,
permitting the issuance of a "growers permit" to persons selling or peddling surplus
farm or garden produce for human consumption which was raised or produced entirely
by such person, for which permit a fee of "2.00 was charged, and
'IHEREAS, said Section of said ordinance has heretofore on this day been
repealed, and
6 WHEREAS, numerous persons have purchased such growers permits,- I now
therefore move that the City Treasurer be, and he is hereby, authorized to refund to
all persons who have purchased permits the ;)2.00 fee paid by them upon presentation of
said permit. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley,
Gholson and Mayor Pro Tem Hook (4).
