At a Regular Necting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber
of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 8:30 A.M. on May 24, 1955, Mayor Jacobs presided
and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Fairhurst,
Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5)
1•:ayor Jacobs offered motion that the reading of the Minutes for I.1ay 10 and May 14,
1955 be waived and that the Minutes of said meeting as prepared by the City Clerk be
approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst,
Fendley, Gholson, Hoole and Mayor Jacobs (5).
Commissioner Hook offered motion that the petition signed by J. W. Hagar and other
requesting grading, graveling and ditching of the alley between Hill and Starke Streets
in the 1100 block, together with the report from the Director of Public Works regarding
the amount of work required and the cost of same, be received and filed; he further
moved that said improvement be placed on the work program of the Public :forks Departments
Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and
Mayor Jacobs (5).

Commissioner Fairhurst offered the following motion: I move that the letter of
'ay 21, 1958 from Chism & Miller, Inc., General Contractor, to 1.1r. Lloyd C. Emery, City
::anarer, requesting the issuance of a building permit for construction of a Naval Reser
Electronics Facility Building at 2001 North 12th Street, be received and filed; I Furth
move that the Building Inspector be and he is hereby directed to issue such building
permit without charge. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst,
Fendley, Gholcon, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5).
Cor-aissioner Fairhurst offered the following motion: I move that the letter of
James K. Poll;, Justice of the Peace, stating the garnishment issued by this Court in
February, 1-958, against 3. E. (111lie) Williams, a member of the Fire Department, was
issued throurh mistake, be received and filed.

as a temporary laborer in the Street Division of the Department of Public Works at

Commissioner Fendley offered motion that Randall E. Courtney be employed
as a temporary laborer in the Street Division of the Department of Public 1Vorks at
x1.171 per hour, effective June 2, 1958. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas,

Commissioner Fendley offered motion t hat George Lee be employed as a

Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive,
file and approve liability insurance policy issued by American Surety Company of New
York to the City of Paducah, covering work done by J. C. Butler for a period of one
year from May 1, 1958. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst,
Fendley, Gholson, Hook and I•!(ayor Jacobs (5).
Commissioner Fendley offered the following motion: I move that the request
of Richard Dickerson, dated I•lay 16, 1958, that his employment as an enginer in the File
Department of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be changed to employment as a Grade ttA"
Fireman as of May 16, 1958 be received and filed, and I further move that said request
be granted and that his employment be changed to that of a Grade "A" fireman as of
I•lay 16, 1958. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley,
Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5).
Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the letter of May 16, 1958, from
Richard Dickerson to the Mayor and Commissioners, releasing and relinquishing all his
right to paid sick leave time and paid vacation time for the remainder of the year 1958
be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst,
Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Kayor Jacobs (5).
Commissioner Fendley offered the following., motion: I move that the letter
of ;Uchard Dickerson to the Mayor and Commissioners, dated May 16, 1958, wherein he
