At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chambc
of the City (tall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 8:30 A.M. on April 26, 1958, Mayor Jacobs
presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners
Fairhurst, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (4). Commissioner Fendley absent.
Mayor Jacobs offered motion that the reading of the Minutes for April 12, 1958
be waived and that the Minutes of said meeting as prepared by the City Clerk be approved
as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Gholson,
Hook and Mayor Jacobs (4).
Commissioner Fairhurst offered the following motion: I move that a petition
dated April 30, 1956, signed by Mr. & Mrs. W. E. Lawson and others, requesting the
opening of an alley running parallel to Koerner and Leiberman Streets between Bridge
and Parker Streets, together with a report from the Director of Public Works concerning
the amount of work required and the cost of same, be received and filed; I further move
that said improvement be placed on the work program of the Public Works Department.
Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Gholson, Hook and Mayor
Jacobs (4).
Commissioner Fairhurst offered the following motion: I move that the petition
signed by C. S. Huffman and others, requesting the grading, draining and gravel surfacing
of the alley between Harrison and Clay Streets in the 2500 block, together wih the report
concerning the amount of work required and the cost of same, be received and filed; I
further move that said improvement be placed on the work program of the Public Works
Department. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Gholson,
Hook and P•iayor Jacobs (4).
Commissioner Fairhurst offered motion that the petition of Cloyd P. Barriger
and his wife, Margaret Sue Barriger for permission to make one 3/4 inch connection to the
privately owned water pipe line located on Minnich Avenue for the purpose of furnishing
water to one residence only to be built upon property now owned by petitioners and
fronting 85 feet on Minnich Avenue in McCracken County, Kentucky, and outside the cor-
porate limits of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be received and filed and that the reque1
petitioned for therein be granted subject to the terms and conditions in said petition.

Commissioner Fairhurst offered motion that the petition of D. W. Thurman and
his wife, Pearl Thurman, for permission to make one 3,14 inch connection to a 6 inch water.

Start works Commissioner Gholson offered the following motion: WHEREAS, on March 8, 1958

Ele School 1; by an ordinance adopted by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah, Kentucky,
the bid of Hal Perry for the construction of the Southside Elementary School in said
city at a total cost of ;;178,890.00 was accepted and authorized, and
WHEREAS, the revenue bonds issued to provide funds for the construction ofsaid
school have been sold.
NOW THEREFORE, I move that Hal Perry be, and he is hereby, directed and author -I
ized by this motion to immediately start construction of said school as provided for I

Commissioner Fairhurst offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN
ORDINANCE FIXING THE APPORTIONMENT OF THE PUBLIC FUNDS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY,
FOR THE YEAR 195$ AND APPROPRIATING THE PUBLIC REVENUE AND INCOME OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH FOR SUCH PURPOSES", be introduced and remain on file for public inspection
for at least one :reek in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final
passage. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Gholson, Hook
