At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission
Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.1-1. on i•iay 24, 1955, Nayor Cherry
presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commiosioner
Haemin, Hughes, Riggs and 1•;ayor Cherry (4), Commissioner Jacobs being absent (1).
Nayor Cherry offered motion that the reading of the Minutes for Ray 10, 1955
be waived and that the 1•:inutes of said meeting as prepared by the City Clerk be approve
as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas Commissioners Hannin, Hughes, Riggs
and Nayor Cherry (4).
Commissioner Hannin offered motion as follows: 1 move that the letter from
Oscar K. Talmage, City Treasurer, regarding refund on building permit i{3031, be race
and filed.
Since it appears that the building permit was not used, 1 further move that th
sum of $54.00 be refunded to G. T. Laird, Agent for Temple Baptist Church. Adopted on
all of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Hannin, Hughes, Riggs and Mayor Cherry (4).
Pay Gus Harris Commissioner Hannin offered motion that the statement .from Thomas J. Nolan &
Hospital Add. ,
Son in the amount of 9'10,244.72 for final payment due Gus Harris for the electrical
work in connection with alterations and additions to the Riverside Hospital, also the
letter from the Paducah Municipal Hospital Commission by its Chairman, approving the
payment of said account, be received and filed, and that payment thereof be approved
and the City Treasurer be directed to pay same from funds in the Riverside Hospital

Water main on/ Commissioner Hannin offered motion that the request of the Paducah Water Works
Thompson Ave ,/
Park to 27th for authority to install appro:dmately 500 feet of 6 inch water main along Thompson
Avenue from Park Avenue to 27th Street be granted, and he further moved that the
I' adoption of this resolution and the granting of this request will not obligate the
City of Paducah to pay water main rental until such time as a specific request for
fire plug installation and authority to charge rental is received and approved for the

Commissioner Hughes offered motion that the following; bids for the sale of
gasoline, diesel fuel, motor oil, chassis lubricant, gear lube oil and anti -freeze
to the City of Paducah until December 31, 1955, be received and filed:

Commissioner Riggs offered motion that the following bids submitted for the

Commissioner Riggs offered motion that the bid submitted by The Southland
Company for the sale to the City of Paducah of its requirements of asphalt for the
year 1955, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners
Hannin, Hughes, Riggs and i;ayor Cherry (4).
Commissioner itiggs offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive,
file and approve the following; liability policies:
Policy issued by the United States Fidelity & Guaranty Company to the City of
Paducah coverin.,,work done by John Cassidy Construction Company for a period of one
year from April o, 1955•
Policy issued by the Secured Insurance Company to the City of Paducah and
Aretta Smith for a period of one year from I•;ay 5, 1955.
Policy issued by The Fidelity and Casualty Company to the City of Paducah
covcrinl work done by C. C. Miller and Clifton Johnson d/b/a Miller 2-: Johnson for a
