HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Book 21, Page 364, December 28, 1948Proceedings ofward of Com,.issionors City of Paducah December 28, 1948 At a Regular K.eeting of the Ecard of Commissioners held in the Commissionors, Chamber at the City Ball, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7;30 P.M. on December 28, 1948, Mayor Pro Tem Johnston presided and upon call of the Roll the followinC answered to their names: Commissioners Abell, Allen, Fannin and Mayor Pro Tom Johnston (4). Commissioner Abell offered the following, motion: WHEREAS, Account No. 3185 of thel Folice Car 1948 apportionment ordinance does not contain sufficient funds to pay for repairs to Repairs the police car wrecked on December 18, 1948, and such funds cannot be appropriated before the end of 1948 because of the requirement of law that such ordinances remain an file for ton days; and WFEREAS, the police car after being repaired will be used in 1949 and therefore the cost of repairs is more properly chargable to the 1949 apportionment ordinance; NVI THEREFORE, I move that the motion on this subject adopted at the meeting on December 21, 1948, be rescinded. I further move that the making of a contract for this repair work be deferred until after December 31, 1948, and that the cost of such repairs be charged to Account No. g 3185 of the 1949 apportionment ordinance. Gras & Cil Commissioner Hannin offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive and fil ?ids the bids submitt4d by the Mid -Continent Petroleum Corp., the Standard 011 Company and the Ashland 011 & Refining Company for furnishing to the City its requirements of gasoline and motor oil for the four (4) months period beginning January 1, 1949. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Abell, Allen, Hannin and Mayor Pro Tem Johnston (4). ?1J install Commissioner Hannin offered the following motion: YMEREAS, the franchise contract st. lights requested between the City of Paducah and the Kentucky Utilities Company provides that street by city li„hts shall be installed by the Kentucky Utilities Company upon requout of the city; and T:a"REA3, the City cannot directly install lights but can only request theKentuck Utilities Company to do so and it is then the obligation of that company to secure necessary equipment and do all the work of installation; NC7i, THEREFORE, I move that the City Manager be instructed to communicate with the Kentucky Utilities Company for the purpose of ascertaining the reasons for delay irk installin_ a great number of lights that have been requested by the city ant are urgenly needed and to determine whether the Kentucky Utilities Company can take action to expea!te the Installation Of such 11,^hts. Commissioner Allen offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE RE -APPROPRIATION OF CERTAIN OF THE PUBLIC FUNDS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH FOR THE YEAR 1948 BY TRANSFERRIN" UNUSED APPROPRIATIONS I•tADE FOR CERTAIN PURPOSES TO OTHER PURPOSES; SPECIFYING THE TRANSFERS TO BE ':ADE; AND REPEALING ALL ORDIEA'NCES IN CONFLICT TNERETITd", be adopted. R.Howson, and J.
