Proceedings of Board of Commissioners City of Paducah December 14, 1948
At a Regular Meeting of the hoard of Commissioners held in the Commissioners?
Chamber at the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P;M. on Decomber.14, 1948, Mayor
Pro Tem Johnston presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their
names: Commissioners Abell, Allen, Hannin and Mayor Pro Tem Johnston (4). Mayor Peak
being absent (1).
Minutes of the previous meeting were adopted as read.
Morris A.Lea
Commissioner Abell offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive and
letter -Audit V
file the letter of the City Manager dated December 13, 1948, recommending that the
board accept the proposal of Morris A. Lee to make an annual audit of the records of
the City for the year 1948 at a cost of .;2000.00, also the letter of Morris A. Lee
dated December 8, 1948 submitting said proposal. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas,
Commissioners Abell, Allen, Hannin and Mayor Pro Tam Johnston (4).

Commissioner Hannin offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive,

Wyman Halliday DBA Halliday Plumbing & Heating Company, for a period of one (1) year
from December 3, 1948. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Abell, Allen

WP.cREAS, it appearing that said structure is located outside of the congested
area of the city and it is the judgment of the Board of Commissioners that no

hazardous condition will be created if said addition Is built onto the main building,
and In such event the board of commissioners has authority to vary the provisions of
the building code by granting a permit as provided under an ordinance adopted on
April 10, 1947, as will be shown in Ordinance Book 11, page 55 of the official records
of the city of Paducah;
NOW TFEREFORE, I move that the application of Growers Burley Warehouse, Inc.,
be granted and that said company be authorized to construct an addition onto the front.
of its tobacco warehouse located on Horth 32nd Street, the same to c over an area of
approximately 20,000 sq. ft., and that said company be permitted to construct the
same without building fire walls or installing a sprinkler system. Adopted on call
