HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Book 18, Page 44, April 4, 1928N,,- 44 Proceedings of Bo ,RD OF C014diCSI011GRS City of Paducah APRIL 4th, 1928 At a call meeting of the Board of Commissioners hold in the Commissioners' Chamber in the city Hall Building in the City of Paducah, Kentucky, at Three '01 Clock P.Y., April 4th, 1928, Mayor Lackey presided and upon the call of the roll the follow- ing answered to their names: Commissioners Brndshaw, Hannin, Rutter and Mayor Lackey. Mayor Lackey stated reasons Sor call .to -wit: To allow payrolls for the last half of Larch and such other business that may come before the Board. Payrolls for Commissioner Rutter offered motion that the payrolls for the last half 1, Zit half of March 1928, in the amount of $13,406.12, be allowed, and that the Commissioner of ..arch Public Finance be authori$ed to pay same. Adopted on the call of the roll: Year; Commissioners Bradshaw, Fannin, Rutter and Mayor Lackey. (4). Commissioner Rutter offered motion, that the letter Prom the McKelvey -Carter Lei:cter from Construction Company, directing the City of Paducah to pay 0837.10, hold by the City c:Carter Con- Ctrnction of Paducah as garnisheed by the United States Fidelity u Guaranty Company, to Eaton & Co., filed Boyd, attorneys, be received and filed and that the Commissioner of Public Finance be authorized to issue check. for ;?.837.10, payable to Eaton & Boyd, attorneys, in full sottleront of the amount so hold under said garnishment- by the U.S.F. & G. Co., in its action against McKelvey Construction Company. Adopted on the call of the roll: Yeas; Commissioners Bradshaw, Hannin, Rutter and Mayor Lackoy.(4). , Commissioner Rutter offered motion as follows: The collection of all Brc,dy Y. Cte..3^rt delinquent taxes of every kind having been by ordinance placed in the Department of at"j to Public Finance but the collection of other delinquent claims arising in the other roll r-.ct . ' q g "n °"' Ctc departments of the City having been left undetermined, and it appearing that there are now in the office of the Commlasioner of Public Finance an accumulation of dol- irquent taxes due to the City of Paducah extending over a period of years and that there are numerous delinquent claims for public improvements and interest on the Im- provot:ant bonds herebefore issued, and it also appearing that there are numerous claims and accounts due to the Riverside Hospital from various persons, and in order to fac- ilitate the collection of said claims, I move that the Commissioner of Public Vinanoe be authorised to arrange with Brady Li. Stewart, attorney, for the collection of all delinquent ad valorem and poll taxes due to the City and for such improvement taxes and assesoants as may be agreed upon by the Board of Commiosioners, and all dolin- euent claims owing to the Riverside Hoapital up to the lot- of February, 1928, and for his services in aiding and assisting ..nd making said collootlons, said Brady M. Stewart will be paid compensation at the rate of ten per cont of all delinquent ad valorem and asaesemont taxes, whether the same are collected by suit or by demand and his compon- aaticn will be an amount equal to fifteen per cont on all collections and claims due to F.1vcrs1de Hospital, Whether by suit or denand, and in order to Eacilitato raid coll- octiona, the said Cormiasioner of Finance will furnish to said Brady t:. Stewart a list of all such claica as are to be handled or collected through his services, arising in the LeTart-cont of Public Finance, and the CQ=I calmer of kublic Property will furnish ststor.cnta of all accounts and sufficient evidence for claims due to Riverside Hospital, to said Brady V. .'_towart, but no suits shall La filed on any of the said Improvement C'_niea Cr esaeas-.ants without the authority or conacnt or tow Board or Cor.:mtsalonora. Commissioner Ruttor offered motion that the report and claim of the Paducah Yater dompany be received and filed and tnap they be allowed $8779.94 Report & claim of Fa^ucn"I i"n.ter Co. as shown in report and that the Commissioner of Public Finance be authorized to pay same. Adopted on the call of the roll: Yoqs; Cor.missioners Bradshaw, Hannin, Nelson, Rutter and•Mayor Lackey. (5). Commissioner Hannin offered motion that Mrs. A.M. McCord having 'Mrs A.M. McCord- paid to the Commissioner of Public Finance the sum of $50.00; that deed be executed deed to lot in Oak Grove to tier for the East half of Lot 1/9 in Block X14, Oak Grove Cemetery. Adopted on the call of the roll: Yoas; Commissioners Bradshaw, Hannin, Nelson, Rutt-or and Mayor Lackey. (5). Commissionor Hannin offered motion that Ocie Palmer and Monroe Occle 7almer & sed t Slot -in Stagger having paid to the Commissioner of Public•Finance the sum of $75.00; that decd to lot in Oak Grove deed be executed to them for Lots #66 and #671n Block #5, Oak Grove Cemetery. (5). - Adopted on the call of the roll: Yeas; (5). Mayor Lackey offered motion that the report of the City Health Report of City Department for the month of March, 1928, be received and filed. Adopted on the call Health Dept. for ` Mnrch filed of the roll: Yeas; Commiasionors Bradshaw, Hannin, Nelson, Ratt-or and Mayor Lackey. On motion mooting adjourned. ADOPTED 1928 APPROVED Mayor
