AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF
EMERGENCY RADIO EQUIPMENT FROM MOTOROLA CORPORATION FOR
UPGRADE OF THE EMERGENCY TELECOMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM, AND
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR SAME
WHEREAS, this purchase is being made as a non-competitive negotiation
l under Section 26-21 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah; and
WHEREAS, Motorola Corporation is the sole supplier of this product in
this area.
SECTION 1. The Finance Director is hereby authorized to pay to
Motorola Corporation the sum of $168,864.00 for the purchase of emergency radio
equipment necessary to upgrade the Emergency Telecommunications System. Funds for
this purchase will be provided by a Local Law Enforcement Block Grant through the U.S.
Department of Justice.
SECTION 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute a contract with
Motorola Corporation for sale to the City of the equipment authorized in Section 1 above.

SECTION 3. This expenditure shall be charged to Account No. 001-1602-
SECTION 4. In order to comply with grant requirement to encumber
these funds by June 30, 2001, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance
will become effective immediately with one reading.
