NORTHERN SANTA FE RAILWAY (BNSF) FOUNDATION FOR PROVIDING A YOUTH
POLICE ACADEMY SPONSORED BY THE PADUCAH POLICE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway (BNSF) Foundation contributes
- to non -profits, schools and local government entities for a variety of educational projects and programs
within the communities that BNSF has established rail lines. One area of interest is youth crime
prevention and it is for this reason that the City of Paducah approved by Municipal Order #1683 to
submit a Letter of Request on behalf of the Paducah Police Department; and
WHEREAS, this funding will assist the Police Department in providing a Youth
Police Academy twice a year to area youth 13 to 17 who may be interested in law enforcement as a
career; and
of $2,500; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors at BNSF has approved the City's funding reouest
WHEREAS, the City now desires to accept the grant award.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City of Paducah hereby accepts a grant award in the
amount of $2,500 from Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway (BNSF) Foundation to assist the
Paducah Police Department in providing a youth police academy twice a year to area youth ages
13 to 17. The award does not require any local matching funds.
SECTION 2. These funds expenditure shall be charged to BNSF Grant project
number P00068.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be read on two separate days and will become
effective upon summary publication pursuant to KRS Chapter 424.
