ORDINANCE 2006-9-7172
AN ORDINANCE RECLASSIFYING ALL CIVIL
SERVICE POSITIONS AS NON -CIVIL SERVICE.
WHEREAS, the City of Paducah currently has 24 classes of positions that are
classified as civil service and therefore governed by the provisions of KRS Chapter 90 et.
seq; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to KRS Chapter 90 et. seq., the City of Paducah may
exclude from the definition of civil service "employee", "persons in a class of employees
designated by ordinance to be non -civil service positions"; and
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the Board of Commissioners that it would be
economically beneficial, as well as in the best interest of the City, to reclassify all civil
service positions within the City of Paducah as non -civil -service.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of the
City of Paducah, as follows:
SECTION 1. The following classes of positions at the City of Paducah
` are hereby designated as non -civil service:
Floodwall Operator
Solid Waste Division Collector
Solid Waste Division Truck Driver
Solid Waste Division Equipment Operator
Solid Waste Division Right of Way Maintenance Person
Fleet Mechanic I
Landscaping Division Laborer
Solid Waste Recycling Division Compost Equipment Operator
Street Division Equipment Operator
Street Division Right of Way Maintenance Person
Street Division Concrete Finisher
Traffic Division Traffic Technician
Maintenance Division Janitor
Maintenance Division Laborer

Maintenance Division Specialist
Maintenance Division Maintenance Person #1
SECTION 2. Persons currently employed in the previously -referenced
positions upon the effective date of this Ordinance shall continue to be covered by the
provisions of KRS Chapter 90 for such time as he/she is employed in such position
notwithstanding the reclassification of the position to non -civil service.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be read on two separate days and will
become effective upon summary publication pursuant to KRS Chapter 424.
