PRESENTATION
ENTREPADUCAH
Kristin Williams gave a presentation on EntrePaducah. This is a new organization that
has been created from the Think Tank group that was formed a couple of years ago
through GPEDC and the Chamber of Commerce. It will launch in July 2008 and will
focus on entrepreneurial business development. They are requesting $100,000 from the
City and County over the next 3 years. GPEDC is contributing $45,000 for 3 years, and
the Chamber of Commerce will contribute $45,000 for 1 year, plus in-kind services.
These funds will provide for a new concierge position or service to be offered to
businesses. Both commissions will consider this request at their upcoming budget
meetings.
SOCCER COMPLEX LOCATION
Judge Newberry discussed a new proposal submitted by Sports Plex. They are proposing
development in 3 phases, at a total cost of $4.67 million. The proposed site consists of
53.7 acres lying on the North side of US Highway 60 at the intersection of Mayfield -
Metropolis Road.
After much discussion of the proposed soccer sites, an informal polling of both
commissions was taken. The entire City Commission and half of the County
Commission favored the Sheehan Bridge Road site. It was agreed that each commission
would vote on a site preference at their next regularly scheduled meeting. The Mayor
asked Mark Thompson, Director of Parks Services, to work with Judge Newberry in
getting a committee together to evaluate the two sites --Sheehan Bridge Road site and the
proposal submitted by Sports Plex--and make a recommendation.
The City County Joint meeting was concluded at this time. The County Commission
continued with their business.
Upon motion the meeting adjourned.
