HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/15/11NOVEMBER 15, 2011 At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners, held on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at 5:30 p.m., Mayor Paxton presided, and upon call of the roll by the City Clerk, the following answered to their names: Commissioners Abraham, Gault, Watkins, and Mayor Paxton (4). Commissioner Kaler was absent (1). MUNICIPAL ORDER PERSONNEL CHANGES (Hiring of Paducah Renaissance Alliance Director) Commissioner Abraham offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Gault, that upon the recommendation of the City Manager, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah order that the personnel changes on the attached list be approved. (SEE MUNICIPAL ORDER BOOK) Adopted on call of the roll, yeas, Commissioners Abraham, Gault Watkins and Mayor Paxton (4). WORKSHOP FUTURE ORDINANCE FOR HOMELESS SHELTER ACCOMMODATIONS Planning Director Steve Ervin presented information regarding services and providers offered in McCracken County for the homeless. Mr. Ervin has been approached by Devien Burnett and Jeff Golightly with a proposal to rehabilitate a structure located at 1227 Tennessee Street to be utilized by homeless residents of "Tent City". After researching City ordinances, Mr. Ervin proposes an ordinance be created to amend the City's zoning ordinance which will establish regulations for the location of homeless shelters in the B -1R-3, R-4, B-3, M-1 and M-3 zones. The Commission agreed an ordinance needs to be created and instructed Mr. Ervin to move forward. CITY MANAGER REPORT Mr. Pederson attended the Paducah -McCracken County Convention Center (CCC) - meeting on November 14, 2011. He advised that the financial struggles for the CCC will be continuing for some time. A committee of the CCC interviewed prospective management companies for the Convention Center and Expo Center and recommends the hiring of the Carson Center. EXECUTIVE SESSSION Commissioner Gault offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Abraham, that the Board go into closed session for discussion of matters pertaining to the following topics: • Issues which might lead to the appointment, dismissal, or disciplining of an employee, as permitted by KRS 61.810(1)(f).
