A MUNICIPAL ORDER AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE ALL
DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO OBTAIN A 2010 STAFFING FOR ADEQUATE FIRE AND
_ EMERGENCY RESPONSE (SAFER) GRANT THROUGH THE AMERICAN RECOVERY
AND REINVESTMENT ACT OF 2010 FOR THE HIRING OF THREE FIREFIGHTERS FOR
TWO YEARS
BE IT ORDERED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute all documents necessary
to obtain a 2010 Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant through the
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act in the amount of $500,000 for the hiring of three
firefighters for the duration of two years (2011-2013), and to enhance the fire department's
ability to comply with staffing, response and operational standards established by NFPA and
OSHA. If this grant is awarded, the City will retain the three firefighters for one additional year
(2013-2014) at a cost of approximately $220,000.
SECTION 2. This order will be in full force and effect from and after the date of
its adoption.
