HomeMy WebLinkAboutMO # 1531MUNICIPAL ORDER NO. 1531 A MUNICIPAL ORDER AMENDING THE CITY OF PADUCAH' S HEALTH INSURANCE SUMMARY PLAN DESCRIPTION WITH HUMANA, FOR FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES TO INCLUDE COVERAGE OF ROUTINE COLONOSCOPIES, EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2010 WHEREAS, Municipal Order No. 1384 adopted the Summary Plan Description effective May 13, 2008, administered by Humana for full time employees of the City of Paducah which summarizes the City's health insurance plan and applicable federal guidelines necessary to keep the City's plan in compliance; and, WHEREAS, Municipal Order No. 1471 adopted on July 14, 2009, amended the Plan to change the minimum hours worked by an employee to be covered by the City's health insurance, removed Paducah Area Transit Systems from under the City's health insurance plan, and added a prescription drug co -pay benefit to the Elite Plan option; and WHEREAS, Municipal Order No. 1503 amended the Summary Plan Description for the Elite and Investor Plans to reflect that the vision insurance will no longer be embedded in the medical insurance plan but will be an optional benefit; and WHEREAS, the City is promoting wellness and desires to amend the full-time employee health insurance plan to provide coverage for routine colonoscopies, effective for the plan year beginning January 1, 2010. BE IT ORDERED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City of Paducah hereby approves the amendments to the Summary Plan Description for the Elite Plan and Investor Plan of the City's Health Insurance Plan for full-time employees. The amendment will provide coverage at 100% for a routine colonoscopy, regardless of diagnosis, limited to one per year and subject to age limit according to the American Cancer Association guidelines. SECTION 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute the amendments to the Elite Plan and Investor Plan approved in Section 1 above. SECTION 3.
