AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 25-1 "NUMBER., RANK''AND SALARIES'`' '
OF MEMBERS OF DEPARTMENT" OF ` THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF '
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD �OF ^COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
)_SECTION 1-. . That Sections 25-11"Number, rank and salaries of 'members
of department", sof the Code of"Ordinances of`the City of Paducah, Kentucky., be
amended and: reordained so that said section as amended and reordained shall here-
after read as follows: P
"Sec. 25-1. Number,' rank' and salaries of 'members of department.
(a) The number:' and' rank 'of members of "the- police department of the
City of Paducah and their monthly *salaries, provided said 'salaries are not changed
by any annual apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted' shall be' as 'fol'lo'ws.

(f) A captain who is regularly assigned as a shift commander or officer
in charge of a division by the Chief of the Paducah Police, Department, after approval
by the City Manager, shall for such assignment receive additional compensation in an
amount not --to ,exceed $75.00 per month. Such designation shall not constitute a pro-
motion in rank :and such designation and the accompanying supplement shall cease
upon reassignment. Any such action under this subsection shall be initiated by
the Chiefs of.- the Paducah Police Department and approved by the City Manager.
(g-). A sergeant who is regularly assigned- as an assistant shift
commander; or officer in - charge of .a division by .the chief of . the Paducah Police
Department;after-.-approval by the City Manager, shall for such assignment receive
additional compensation in an amount not to exceed $50.00 per month. Such
designation- shall not constitute a promotion in rank and such designationand the
accompanying supplement shall cease upon reassignment. Any such action under this
subsection, shall be initiated by the Chief of the Paducah Police Department and
approved by- the City Manager.
(h) Upon the recommendation of his shift commander or captain in
charge of: a: division and the department executive officer, and the certification of
the -.Chief of the- Paducah Police Department, that a patrolman possesses' quali-
fications and has. ,achieved standards of performance established within the' depart=
ment, : after approval by the City Manager, a patrolman may be designated a "First
Class Patrolman" after successfully completing a minimum of five (5) years of
service with the department, and may be designated a "Senior Patrolman" after
successfully completing a minimum of eight (8) years of service with the depart-
ment. A -First Class Patrolman shall receive additional compensation to be desig-
nated as a performance incentive supplement in an amount not to exceed $25.00
per month. -A Senior Patrolman shall receive additional compensation to be
designated as- a performance incentive supplement in an amount not to exceed $50.00
per month . , Designation as a First Class Patrolman or Senior Patrolman shall not
constitute, a promotion in rank and such designation and the accompanying per-
formance incentive supplement shall cease upon failure by a patrolman to maintain
the level of .qualifications and standards of performance for which he was originally
certified to possess.- Any, such action under this,subsection shall be initiated by
the Chief of the Paducah Police Department and approved by, the City Manager.

(i) A patrolman who is regularly assigned to investigative or specialized
duties by the Chief of the Paducah Police Department and with the approval of the
City Manager, ,shall., a er-,the firstmonthof such. assignment receive additional
compensation in an_amount not to_exceed;_$3,00 per.. dayjor. each .day;so. worked,
for a maximum of, $60. 99, per month.
(j) All members,,pf the, 0_epartment,, shall ..receive-- an initial, clothing
allowance,of $200.00 and, in theeventserve in the

department for more than seventy-five (75) days all clothing purchased-withthe-
initial, clothing allowance shall be returned to the department. The, department
shall furnish., all leather items of equipment, except shoes, which items ph -all
remain the,. property of the department and -shall be returned -to the department
upon the departure of a member from the department for any reason other than
retirement,",..
SECTION 2. This ordinance amends Section I of an ordinance originally
enacted on,August 5, 1952, .and which was last amended, by .Ordinance Nos-.
76-6-1290, 76-12-13614 and 77-5-141A.-
SECTION 3. This,ondinance -shall be in full- force and effect. and
retroactive to July 4, 1977.
