ORDINANCE NO. 77-4-1413
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND CITY TREASURER
TO PAY THE SUM OF $31,000.00 TO CHARLES E. TURNER AND WIFE, CAROLYN W. TURNER,
FOR THE PURCHASE OF PROPERTY LOCATED ON THE WEST SIDE OF SOUTH THIRD
STREET AND KNOWN AS 223 SOUTH THIRD STREET IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager and the City Treasurer be, and they are
hereby, authorized to pay to Charles E. Turner and wife, Carolyn W. Turner,
the sum of $31,000.00 for the purchase of the real property located on the west side
of South Third Street and known as 223 South Third Street in the City of Paducah,
Kentucky, and which is more particularly described as follows:
Parcel 3-B, Block 1 - 3,998.61 square feet.
Being a part of Lot No. 128 in Block No. 15
of Addition "A" lying on the West side of
South 3rd Street between Court Street and
Washington Street, and beginning at a point
in the West line of 3rd Street, 242 feet 6 inches
from the Southwest corner of the interesection
of 3rd Street and Kentucky Avenue; thence
in a Westerly direction toward 4th Street and
parallel with Kentucky Avenue 173 feet 3 inches;
thence at right angles and parallel with Washing-
ton Street 173 feet 3 inches to the South line of
3rd Street thence at right angles and with the
West line of 3rd Street in' a Northerly direction
23 feet 1 inch to the point of beginning.
Being the same property conveyed to James
W. Barclay and Charles E. Turner, d/b/a
Business Equipment and Supplies, by deed
dated December 13, 1956 and of record in
Deed Book 483, Page 287 in the McCracken
County Court Clerk's office; and the interest
of James W. Barclay in and to the same
having been conveyed to Charles E. Turner
by deed dated August 30, 1968, and of re-
cord in Deed Book 501, Page 133 in said
Clerk's office.
SECTION 2. Prior to the payment of the aforesaid $31,000.00, the City
Manager and the City Treasurer shall receive from the Sellers, Charles E. Turner and
wife, Carolyn W. Turner, an approved Attorney's Certificate of Title and a General
Warranty Deed conveying the aforedescribed property to the City of Paducah, Kentucky,
each of the aforesaid items to be prepared at the expense of the Sellers.
SECTION 3. The aforesaid deed shall further provide that the Charles E.
Turner and wife, Carolyn W. Turner, shall pay half of the 1977 state and county
taxes assessed as of January 1, 1977 -.and shall .=pay the second installment of the
City of Paducah taxes .for the fiscal year 1976-1977, - assessed as of January 1, 1976;
the City of Paducah is to assume and pay any and all taxes due thereafter.
SECTION 4. The purchas
shall ' be paid by -the City Treasure
Account No. 9094.
SECTION 5. This ordinanc
for one week for public inspection
upon its final passage, and if ado
days thereafter.
