A RESOLUTION TO THE HONORABLE JULIAN CARROLL EXPRESSING
A DESIRE THAT THE ORIGINALLY ANNOUNCED PLANS TO BUILD A KEN'I'LTCKY
EDUCATIONAL TELEVISION TRANSMITTER IN PADUCAH; KENTUCKY, BE
IMPLEMENTED 'AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
WHEREAS , in response to recommendations by the Kentucky Educational
Television Study Commission and the' Kentucky Authority for Educational Television
the Honorable Julian Carroll prepared, as part of the 'current executive budget,
that capital construction funds be provided for the building of an `Educational
Television Transmitter in Paducah and Owensboro, Kentucky, which would im-
prove the reception o£ educational television programs in both cities, and
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah,
Kentucky, and theFiscal Court of McCracken County, Kentucky, are jointly of
the opinion that the location of an educational television transmitter in their com-
munity will improve the currently poor reception conditions and thereby greatly
enhance the cultural and educational opportunities for many citizens of Western
Kentucky, and
WHEREAS , it has now come to the attention of the Board of Commissioners
of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, and of the Fiscal Court of McCracken County,
Kentucky, that an effort is now being made to establish "priorities" between
Owensboro and Paducah for the building of a single transmitter, and
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah, and the
Fiscal Court of McCracken County, are jointly of the opinion that the Honorable
Julian Carroll and the members of the State Legislature of the Commonwealth of
Kentucky intended that educational television transmitters be built equally at
both Paducah and Owensboro, without any consideration of priorities
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT JOINTLY RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF
COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND THE FISCAL COURT
OF McCRACKEN COUNTY, KENTUCKY
SECTION 1. That the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah,
Kentucky, and the Fiscal Court of McCracken County, jointly express a desire
that an educational television transmitter be built as originally planned and in
accordance with the approved funding included in Governor Julian Carroll's
executive budget .
SECTION 2. That the Kentucky Authority of Educational Television is
hereby urged to proceed immediately with plans to construct transmitters at
both Paducah and Owensboro .

-- SECTION 3. That the Honorable Julian Carroll, Governor of the
Commonwealth of Kentucky, is also hereby urged to' use his good office to do
whatever is necessary to see that an educational television transmitter is
constructed equally in both the .cities of Paducah and Owensboro ~ as intended
by ~ the members of the- -Legislature: of the Commonwealth of Kentucky
SECTION 4. This-resolution shall be in full. force and effect from
and after its adoption .
