ORDINANCE NO. 76-9-1315
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A
CONTRACT WITH ANGELS OF 11~IERCY, INC.+FOR EMERGENCY AMBULANCE SERVICE
IN PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS UPON
WHICH SUCH CONTRACT SHALL BE MADE
-BE IT-ORD:4INED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY
OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and Iie is hereby,. authorized
to execute a contract with Angels-of Mercy, Inc. to provide emergency ambulance
service in Paducah, Kentucky; :which contract shall -contain the following~provisions:
(a) The. contract shall be for the period from July 1, 1976 through
June 30, 1977. ~ _
(b) Angels of Mercy, Inc. shall comply with all ordinances of the City
of Paducah and all laws of the Commonweal=th of Kentucky.
(c) All employees of Angels of Mercy, Inc. who shall serve as an
ambulance driver or attendant shall possess valid American Red Cross Standard
and Advanced Training Certificates and shall be at least twenty years of age.
(d) All vehicles used for operation of the service shall be not more than
five years old and shall be equipped with such equipment as may currently be listed
on the minimum equipment list of the Committee on Trauma of the American College
of Surgeons , and such other equipment as may be required by ordinances of the City
of Paducah .
(e) At least two trained persons, one driver and one attendant shall be
carried on each ambulance for each ambulance call which is covered by the contract.
(f) The service to be rendered for the consideration hereinafter named
shall be to respond to all official calls regarding accidents on all highways, roads,
streets and other such ways for vehicular traffic within the City of Paducah.
(g) The consideration for the services during the first term of the contract
shall be paid as follows:
A $5, 000.00 lump sum payment which shall be payable immediately. The sum
of $833.33 payable each month during the term of the contract. All payments shall be made
by the 10th of each month in which the payment is due . The City further agrees to lease
to Angels of Mercy, Inc. the City's ambulance at a rental rate of One Dollar ($1.00)
per month during the term of the contract . In the event the contract is extended for

a one year period then the consideration. for the extended term shall be paid on a monthly
basis .
(h) The contract shall contain an option for the City to renew the contract
for an .additional one year period with annual payment' of $15 ; 000:00 for 'the period
from July 1, 1977 through June 30, 1978. "
(i) In the event the County of McCracken authorizes a comparable contract
with Angels of Mercy , Inc . for services in McCracken County , outside the City of
Paducah, the contract may be executed as a joint contract between the City of Paducah,
the County of McCracken and Angels of Mercy , Inc .
SECTION 2. An emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance shall
therefore `be introduced-and remain on file for- public:inspection for at least one week
in the completed form. in which it shall be put upon its final passage , and if adopted
shall be in full force and effect immediately thereafter .
