AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SUB-SECTIONS (a) AND (f) OF SECTION
2-21 "VACATION LEAVE GENERALLY" OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY
OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That Sub-section (a) of Section 2-21 "Vacation leave generally"
of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah , Kentucky , be amended and reordained
so that said sub-section as amended and reordained shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sec . 2-21. Vacation leave generally .
(a) Each employee of the city regularly employed filling a permanent
position on a full-time basis after completing six (6) months of employment with the
city shall be credited with vacation time from the date of employment at the rate of
one and one-fourth (14) days vacation for each month of employment with the city ,
and all such employees shall thereafter accrue vacation at the same rate and may
accumulate up to a maximum of twenth-four (24) days of vacation at any one time .
After obtaining vacation eligibility, an employee may take vacation as may be
reasonably scheduled with his department head as hereinafter set forth in sub-section
(g) , or in the case of a department head , as may be scheduled with the city manager .
A month in which a salaried employee is paid for fifteen (15) days or more and a
daily or hourly wage employee is paid for twelve (12) days or more shall be considered
as a month of service. Members of the police department that have successfully completed
fifteen (15) years of continuous service with the department shall thereafter accrue
vacation at the rate of one and one-half (1~2) days of vacation for each month of employment
with the city, and may-accrue ixp to a maximum of thirty (30) days of vacation at any one
time. Members of said department that have successfully completed thirty (30) years of
continuous service with the department shall thereafter accrue vacation at the rate of
one and three-fourths (1-3/4) days vacation for each month of employment with the city,
and may accrue up to a maximum of thirty-five (35) days of vacation at any one time.
Members of the fire department that have successfully completed twenty (20) years of
continuous service with the department shall thereafter accrue vacation at the rate of
one and one-half (12) days of vacation for each month of employment with the city, and
members of said department that have successfully completed twenty-five (25) years of
continuous service with the department shall thereafter accrue vacation at the rate of

one and three-fourths (1-3/4) days of vacation for each month of employment with the
city, and each may accrue up to a maximum of thirty (30) days of vacation at any one
time . "
SECTION 2. That Sub-section (f) of Section 2-21 "Vacation leave generally"
of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained
so that said sub-section as amended and reordained shall hereafter read as follows:
" (f) Members of a platoon in the fire department working shifts of twenty-
four (24) hours on duty and forty-eight (48) hours off duty shall take all of his annual
leave within the year and at one time and shall be entitled to six (s) working days of
annual leave with pay. Members of the fire department with more than twenty (20)
years consecutive service shall be entitled to seven (7) working days annual leave with
pay. Members of the fire department with more than twenty-five (25) years of consecutive
service shall be entitled to eight (8) working days annual leave with pay. Such vacation
shall be taken with the approval and consent of the fire chief . Vacation pay shall be
computed at the average pay the employee would receive for the period of time covered
by the vacation based on an average work week of fifty-six (56) hours."
SECTION 3. This ordinance amends an ordinance originally adopted
November 25 , 1947 , and last amended by Ordinance No . 74-6-992 adopted June 18 , 1974
and Ordinance No. 74-12-1067 adopted December 30, 1974.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its adoption and retroactive to January 5 , 1976 .
