AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 10-52, 10-53, 10-55, 10-59 AND 10-61,
"CIVIL SERVICE" OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That Section 10-52 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and re -
ordained shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sec. 10-52. Street department - generally.
(a) There is hereby authorized and created the following positions in the
Street department, and the salaries of each position that shall be paid upon satisfactory
completion of consecutive years of service, in this position, and upon recommendation
of the City Manager:
6 mos. 5.33
1 year 5.38
2 years 5.43
Concrete finisher 3 6.23
(b) All other positions of hourly employment shall be paid at the base hourly
rate for the first six months of employment, and at the expiration of six months the
rate of pay shall be increased by $0.05 per hour, such increases to be made upon
recommendation of the City Manager".

SECTION 2. That Section 10-53 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and
reordained shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sec. 10-53. Refuse Department.,
(a) There is hereby authorized and created .the following ..,positions in the refuse
(sanitation) department, and ,the salary of each. position that- shall bepaid upon satis-
factory completion of consecutive years of service, in this position, and upon recommendation
of the City Manager:
months of employment, at the expiration of six months $5.33 per hour; at the expiration
of one year $5.38 per hour; and at the expiration of two years $5.43 per hour, such
increases to be made upon recommendation of the City Manager.
(c) Collectors assigned to operate vehicular collection equipment shall be
assigned on the basis of seniority and qualifications and shall receive an additional $0.10
per hour for hours worked in the operation of the vehicles.
(d) All other positions of hourly employment, except Class "A" truck drivers,
shall be paid at the base hourly rate for the first six months of employment;- and -at the
expiration of six months the rate of pay shall be increased by $0.05 per hour; such
increases to be made upon recommendation of the City Manager".
SECTION 3. That Section 10-55 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah,
Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and reordained
shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sec. 10-55. Floodwall department.
(a) There is hereby authorized and created the following positions in the
Floodwall Department, and the salary of each position that shall be paid upon satisfactory
completion of consecutive years of service, in this position, and upon recommendation of
the City Manager:

(b) Maintenance men shall be paid at

SECTION 4. That Section 10-59 of the
Code of Ordinances of the City of
Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained
so that said section as amended and
reordained shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sec. 10-59. Parks and Recreation Department.
(a) There is hereby created and authorized the following positions in the
Parks and Recreation Department, and the salary
of each position that shall be paid upon
satisfactory, completion of consecutive years of service,
in this position, and upon recom-
mendation of the City Manager:

Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and re-
ordained- shall hereafter read as follows:
'Sec. 10-61. Unassigned positions.
(a) There is hereby authorized and created the following positions not assigned
to any department of the City of.Paducah but directly under the supervision of the City,
Manager, and the salary of each position that shall be paid upon satisfactory completion
of consecutive years of service, in this position, and upon recommendation of. the City
Manager:

(b) The chief inspector shall perform the duties formerly performed by the
building inspector and the electrical inspector, and
said building and electrical in-
spector shall be under the direct supervision of the
City Manager.
(c) Maintenance positions shall be paid at the base hourly rate for the first
six months of employment, and at the expiration of
six months the rate of pay shall be
increased by $0.05 per hour, such increases to be
made upon recommendation of the
City Manager.
(d) Janitor and laborer positions shall be paid at the base hourly rate for the
first six months of employment; at the expiration of
six months there may be an increase
of $0.05 per hour; at the expiration of one year there may be an additional increase
of $0.05 per hour; and at the expiration of two years
there may be an additional increase
of $0.05 per hour, such increases to be made upon
recommendation of the City Manager.
(e) The chief of the maintenance division may designate one employee in his
department to act as a lead -man or part-time working
foreman to serve in such capacity
at the direction of the chief of the maintenance division,
or at such times as the chief
of the maintenance division is on leave. The employee so designated shall be paid an
additional $0.15 per hour during such times as the
employee designated actually serves
in such capacity".

SECTION 6. This ordinance shall be introduced and after being read at two
separate meetings, shall be effective upon publication.
