AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 10-49; 10-51; 10-52; 10-56; 10-58; 10-59;
10-60; AND 10-61, "CIVIL SERVICE" OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, ..KENTUCKY:
SECTION., ._ That. Section 10-49_ of the Code of Ordinances of _the City of Paducah,
Kentucky,, be amended and reordained.,so that -said section as amended ,and reordain.ed
shall hereafter -read as follows:
"Sec. 10-49. Department of finance.
This .department shall be under the direction and supervision of the,
city treasurer - finance director, a noncivil service position which
has heretofore been created_by separate ordinance.
(a). . There is hereby created. and.authorized the .foll.owing._positions .in the
department of finance, and the salary of each position that shall be paid upon.. satisfactory.
completion of consecutive years of service, in this position., and -upon- recommendation of

(b) for such period of time as the City
of Paducah receives and
must
account for general revenue sharing funds and- any
special revenue sharing
funds 11 from
the United States Government, the auditor and bookkeeper
shall be compensated for
their extra services in an amount as follows:
Auditor $30.00 per month. Bookkeeper $20.00
per month. Any of the fore-
going positions in subsection (a) may hereafter from time to time be designated for payment
from said revenue 'sharing 'funds upon motion duly
passed by the Board of Commissioners
of the City of Paducah".
SECTION ' 2. Than `Section 10=51 of the Code of'Ordinances' of the
City of
Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so
that said section as amended and re -
ordained shall hereafter -`read as follows:
"Sec. 10-51. Engineering department.
(a) There is hereby created and authorized
the following positions in the
Engineering Department, and the salary of each position that shall be paid upon satis-
factory completion of consecutive years of service,
in this position, and upon recom-
mendation of the City Manager:

SECTION 3. That Section 10-52 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Paducah; Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and
reordained shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sec. 10-52. Street department - generally.
(a) There is hereby authorized and created the following positions in the
street department, and the salaries of each position that shall be paid upon satisfactory
completion of consecutive years of service, in this position, and upon recommendation of
the City Manager:

(b) All other positions of hourly employment shall be paid at the base hourly
rate for the first six months of employment, and at the expiration of six months the rate
of pay shall be increased by $0.05 per hour, such increases to be made upon recommendation
of the city manager".
SECTION 4. That Section 10-55 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and
reordained shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sec. 10-55. Floodwall department.
(a) There is hereby authorized and created the following positions in the
floodwall department, and the salary of each position that shall be paid upon satisfactory
completion of consecutive years of service, in this position, and upon recommendation of
the City Manager:

- -- SECTION S. That Section 10-56 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Paducah, "Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and re -
ordained -shall hereafter read- as follows:
"Sec. 10-56. Sewage disposal department.
(a) There is hereby authorized and created the following positions in the
sewage disposal department; and the salary of each position that shall. -be paid upon
satisfactory completion of consecutive years of service, in this position, and upon recom-
mendation of the City Manager:

(b) Operators shall be paid at the rate of $1,021.00 per month for the first six
months of employment; at the expiration of six months $1,031.00 per month; at the expi-
ration of one year $1,041.00 per month; at the expiration of two years $1,051.00 per month;
and at the expiration of three years $1,061.00 per month, such increases to be made upon
recommendation of the city manager.
(c) Operator trainee shall be paid at the rate of $938.00 per month for the first
year of employment; at the expiration of one year $963.00 per month; at the expiration of
two . years $988.00 per month; and at the expiration of three years $1,013.00 per month;
such increases to be made upon recommendation of the city manager.
(d) Laborers shall be paid at the rate of $5.28 per hour for the first six
months of employment; .at the expiration of six months $5.33 per hour, at the expiration
of one year $5.38 per ..hou-r; and at the expiration of two years $5.43 per hour, such
increases to be made upon recommendation of the city manager".
SECTION 6.. That Section 10-58 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Paducah, Kentucky, be. amended and reordained so that said section as amended .and .
reordained shail.-hereafter- read as follows:,
"Sec. 10-58.,_ Police Department.
(a) , There„is hereby: authorized_. and .created the fol lowing, positions. in the -

(b) All positions of hourly employment shall be paid 'at the base hourly rate

SECTION 8. That Section 10-60 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah,'
Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and reordained shall`
hereafter read as 'follows:
"Sec. 10-60. Department of Vehicle Maintenance.
(a) There is, hereby created and authorized the following positions in the
Department of Vehilce Maintenance, and the salary of each position that shall be paid upon
satisfactory completion of consecutive years of service,, in this position, and upon recom-
mendation of the City Manager:

SECTION 9. That Section 10-61 of the Code of Ordinances ,of the City of
Paducah, Kentucky,, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and re -
ordained shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sec. 10-61. Unassigned positions.
(a) There is hereby ,authorized and created the following positions not assigned
to any department of the City of Paducah, but directly under the supervision of the city
manager, and the salary of each position that shall be paid upon satisfactory completion
of consecutive years sof service, in ,this position, and upon recommendation of the City
Manager:

(b) The chief inspector shall perform the duties formerly performed by the
building inspector and the electrical inspector, and said building and electrical inspector
shall be under the direct supervision of the city manager.
(c) Maintenance positions shall be paid at the base hourly rate for the first
six months of employment, and at the expiration of six months the rate of pay shall be
increased by $0.05 per hour, such increases to be made upon recommendation of the
City Manager.
(d) Janitor and laborer positions shall be paid at the base hourly rate for the
first six months of employment; at the expiration of six months there may be an increase
of .$0.05 per hour; .at- the .expiration of one year there- may be an additional increase of
$0.05 per hour; and at the expiration of two years there may be an addi.tional..increas.e
of $0.05 per hour, such increases to be made upon recommendation of the City Manager.
(e) The cIhi.e.f of the maintenance division may designate one employee in his
department to act as a -lead-man or part-time working foreman to serve in .such. capacity
at t.he. direction of the. chief of the maintenance division, or at such times as the chief
of themaintenance division is on leave. The employee so designated shall be paid an
additional $0.15 perhour during such times as the employee designated actually serves
in such capacity.
SECTION 10. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect as of
July 1, 1980.
