ORDINANCE NO. 80-7-1940
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2-29, GROUP MEDICAL INSURANCE, -
GENERALLY OF CHAPTER II, ADMINISTRATION OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF
THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY
OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That Section 2-29, Group Medical Insurance Generally"
of the Code of Ordinances. of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be- amended and
reordained so that said section as amended -and- r.eordained shall, hereafter read
as follows:
"Sec. 2-29. Group medical insurance, generally.
(a) All permanent and full time employees of the City of Paducah
and any retired members of the Police or Fire Departments, who elect to
continue in this group, are hereby constituted a group for the purpose of
obtaining the advantages of a group medical insurance plan. Such insurance
may be procured upon an application or contract which shall be signed for and on
behalf of the City of Paducah by the Mayor thereof, and such group insurance
shall continue to be in force as to each member of said group so long as his or
her employment continues, and so long as he or she elects to have a single or
family plan.
(b) Except as provided in paragraph (d) of this section, the gross
premiums shall be paid by the City of Paducah, and any unmarried employee
without dependent children must be limited to a single type plan, and any married
or unmarried employee with dependent children may elect to have a family type
plan.
(c) The Kentucky Physicians Mutual, Inc., and Blue Cross Hospital
Plan, Inc., are presently providing insurance benefits to city employees under
the Blue Cross 8 Blue Shield and Major Medical Benefits plans, and the Mayor
is hereby authorized to execute by signing, on behalf of the City, any new con-
tracts as may from time to time be required to continue the existing coverage and
services as provided by such insurance.
(d) Any retired member of the Police or Fire Departments, who elects
to remain a member of this group shall pay the gross premiums attributable to
that retiree, monthly in advance.

SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect and retro-
active to July 1, 1980.
