AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 25-1 "NUMBER, RANK AND SALARIES
OF 'MEMBERS OF DEPARTMENT" AND SECTION 25-2 "COMPENSATION OF OFFICERS
FOR ATTENDING COURT WHILE OFF DUTY" OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE
CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1.' That Section 25-1 "Number, rank and salaries of members
of department", °ofthe Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be
amended and reordained so that said section, as amended" -and reordained "shal`I'
hereafter read as foklows:

* Pay rate increase at this level can be made upon certification by the
Chief of Police that a -patrolman performs all routine duties in a satisfactory manner,
and after approval of the City. Manager.
(b) A captain who is regularly assigned as a shift commander or officer
in charge of- a- division by the Chief of the Paducah Police Department, after approval
by the City Manager, shall for such assignment receive additional compensation
in an amount not to exceed $75.00 per month through June 30;; 1981; -and effective
July 1, 1981 the -=amount shall not exceed $80.-00 per month. Such designation -shall
not constitute a. promotion in rank and such designation and the accompanying sup-
plement shall cease upon reassignment. Any such action under this subsection shall
be initiated by the Chief of the Paducah Police Department and approved by the City
Manager.
(c) A sergeant; who is regularly assigned as an assistant shift commander
or officer in charge-, of -a, _division by the chief of the Paducah Police Department,
after approval by the City Manager, shall for such assignment receive additional
compensation in an amount not to exceed $50.00 per month through June 30, 1981;
and,effective July 1; 1981 the amount shall not exceed $55.00 per month.
(d) Upon the. recommendation of his shift commander or captain in charge
of `a.r..division and the department executive officer, and the certification -of the chief
of the Paducah Police Department, that a patrolman possesses qualifications and has
achieved standards of performance established within the department, after approval
by the City Manager, a patrolman may be designated a "First Class Patrolman" after
successfully completing -a minimum of five (5) years of service with the:; department,
and may be designated- a "Senior Patrolman" after successfully completing a
minimum of eight (8) years of service with the department. A First Class Patrol-
man shall receive additional compensation to be designated as a performance incentive
supplement in an amount not to exceed $25.00 per month through June 30, 1981;
and effective July 1, 1981 the amount shall not exceed $30.00 per month.
A Senior Patrolman shall receive additional compensation to be designated
as a performance incentive supplement in an amount not to exceed $50.00 per month
through June 30, 1981; and effective July 1., 1981 the amount shall not exceed $55.00
per month. Designation as a First Class Patrolman or Senior Patrolman shall not
constitute a promotion in rank, and such designation and the accompanying performance
incentive supplement shall cease upon failure by a patrolman to maintain the level
of qualifications and standards of performance for which he was originally certified
to possess.
(e) A patrolman who is regularly, assigned to investigative .or specialized
duties by the chief of the Paducah Police Department and with the approval of the
City Manager, shall, after the first month of such assignment,, receive, additional
compensation in an amount not to exceed $60.00 per month through June 30, 1981;
and effective July 1, 1981 the amount shall not exceed $65.00 per month.
(f) All members of the Department shall receive an initial clothing
allowance of $200.00, and in the event such member shall fail to serve in the de-
partment for more than seventy-five (75) days, all clothing purchased with the
initial clothing allowance
shall be returned to
the department. The department
shall
furnish all leather items
of equipment, except
shoes, which items shall remain
the
property of the department and shall be returned to the department upon ,the de-
parture of a member from the department for any reason other than retirement".
SECTION 2. That Section 25-2 "Compensation of officers for attending
court while
off duty" of the
Code of Ordinances
of the City
of Paducah, Kentucky,
be amended
and reordained
so that said section
as amended
and reordained shall
hereafter read as follows:
"There shall be paid the sum of $10.00 to each police officer of the City
for each day or part thereof that he is required to attend any court while off duty.
The compensation so provided shall be in addition to the regular compensation of
police officers and shall be subject to all current_ payroll deductions".
SECTION 3. This ordinance amends Section 1 of an ordinance originally
enacted on August 5, 1952, and which was last amended by Ordinance No. 79-6-1730.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect and retro-
active to July 1, 1980.
