OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY BE 'IT ORDAINED ,BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SFrTION] 1 That Sub -section (a) of:Section.2-21 "Vacation leave generally" of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said sub -section as -amended and -reorda1ned shall hereafter read as follows: "Sec. 2-21. Vacation "leave generally. (a) All present employees -shad- continue to receive vacation at the rate of one and one-fourth (1-1/4) days of vacation for each month of employment with the city except for those employees" who have begun their fifteenth` "year- of service with the city who shall receive vacation at the' increased rate as hereinafter set forth. Except for members of the Police and- Fire Departments, all: employees employed after the date of March 31, 1976; shall receive vacation time as -follows: During the first year of employment, vacation time shall accrue at the -rate of one-half (1/2) day per month for a total of six days. Between the -beginning of the "second and the beginning of the fifth year of employment, employees shall accrue vacation at the rate of five - sixth (5/6) days per month, for a total of ten (10) days per year. From the beginning of the fifth (5) year to the beginning of the tenth (10) year of employment, the accrual rate shall be one (1) day per month for a total of twelve (12) days per year. Between the beginning of the tenth (10) year and the beginning of the fifteenth (15) year of service, the accrual rate shall be one and one-fourth (14) days per month for a total of fifteen (15) days per year. Between the beginning of the fifteenth (15) year and the beginning of the twentieth (20) year of service, the accrual rate shall be one and one- half (1Z) days per month for a total of eighteen (18) days vacation per year. From the beginning of the twentieth (20) year through the twenty-fifth (25) year of service, the accrual rate of vacation will be one and three-fourths (1-3/4) days per month for a total of twenty-one (21) days per year. For all employees with more than twenty- five (25) years of service, the accrual rate of vacation shall be two (2) days per month for a total of twenty-four (24) days per year. An employee may accumulate up to a maximum of fifty (50) days vacation at any one time. Upon termination of employment, all employees shall be paid for any unused accrued vacation leave not to exceed fifty (50) working days." 607 After obtaining vacation eligibility, an employee may take vacation as may be reasonably scheduled with his department head as hereinafter set forth in sub- section (g), or in the case of a department head, as may be scheduled with the City Manager. A month in which a salaried employee is paid for fifteen (15) days or more and a daily or hourly wage employee is paid for twelve (12) days or more shall be considered as a month of service. Members of the police department that have successfully completed fifteen (15) years of continuous service with the department shall thereafter accrue vacation at the rate of one and one-half (1-1/2) days of vacation for each month,of employment with the city, and members of said department that have successfully completed thirty years of continuous service with the department shall thereafter accrue vacation at the rate of one and three-fourths (1-3/4) days vacation for each month of employment with the city, and each of said group of employees may accrue up to a maximum of forty (40) days of vacation at any one time. Members of the fire department that have successfully completed twenty years of continuous service with the department shall thereafter accrue vacation at the rate of one and one-half (1-1/2) days of vacation for each month of em- ployment with the city, and members of said department that have successfully completed twenty-five years of continuous service with the department shall thereafter accrue vaca- tion at the rate of one and three-fourths (1-3/4) days of vacation for each month of em- ployment with the city, and each may accrue up to a maximum of forty (40) days of vacation at any one time". SECTION 2. This ordinance amends Section 1 of Ordinance No. 80-4-1890, adopted April 8, 1980. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect and retro- active to April 1, 1980.
