ORDINANCE NO. 80-3-1884
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ADMINISTRATION, OF THE CODE
OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH BY CREATING AN ELECTRICAL LICENSE
REVIEW BOARD
WHEREAS, Kentucky Revised Statutes 227.490 allows the City of Paducah
to create an Electricians Examination Board, and
WHEREAS, there is a need within the City of Paducah for such a Board,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
OF THE CITY OF.-PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That a new section tinder Chapter 2, Administration, of the
Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah be created establishing an Electrical
Contractor and Electricians Examining Board of the City of Paducah, Kentucky.
SECTION 2.. The purpose of said Board is to administer KRS 227.450
through 227.500 and issue and revoke electrical contractors and electricians licenses,
conduct and make regulations for conducting examinations of applicants, govern the
method and time of making applications for examination and a time within which the
applicant shall be examined after application has been filed. The Board may adopt
any other reasonable regulations to administrer KRS 227.450 through 227.500. The
Board is further empowered to set a reasonable fee before issuing of a license to
electrical contractors and electricians.
SECTION 3. The electrical contractors and electricians examinating Board
shall be composed of seven (7) members. The Board shall consist of two (2) Fire
Department officials, two (2) consulting electrical engineers or architects, two (2)
electrical contractors and one (1) utility company official. The members shall be
appointed for terms of two (2) years.
SECTION 4. Vacancies shall be filled by appointment by the Mayor, with
the approval of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah.
SECTION 5. No appointee to the Board shall serve more than two (2)
consecutive years.
SECTION 6. The members of the Board shall serve without compensation.
SECTION 7. No building official of the City of Paducah or employee of the
Inspection Department of the City of Paducah, shall be appointed to the Board. No
member of the Board shall hear an appeal in a case in which he has a financial interest.
SECTION 8. A majority of the members of the Board shall constitute a
quorum for all purposes. A decision reached by a majority of the Board members
present at a properly called meeting, shall constitute a decision of the entire Board.

SECTION 9. There shall be no appeal from the decision of the Board other
than by appeal to the Kentucky Board of Housing, Building and Construction.
SECTION 10. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately
upon its adoption.
