ORDINANCE NO. 78-7-1593
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION -25-1: "NUMBER; RANK AND SALARIES OF
MEMBERS OF DEPARTMENT" OF' -THE CODE OF ORDINANCES' OFt THE CITY OF PADUCAH,
KENTUCKY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH,. KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. Than Section 25-171Number, 'rank and salaries of members'
of department", -,of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be
amended and reordained so that said section as ' amended and reordained shall here
after read as follows:
"Sec. 25-1. Number; r.-arik .and 'salaries of members' of department.
(a) :The. number •and rank `of,members of : the _ police department of the
City of Paducah and their monthly salaries, provided said salaries- are -not changed
by any annual apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted shall be as follows:

Pay rate increase at this level can be made upon certification by the
Chief of Police that a patrolman performs all routine duties in a satisfactory manner,
and after approval of the City Manager.
(g) A captain who is regularly assigned as a shift commander or officer
in charge of a division by the Chief of the Paducah Police Department, after approval
by: the -City Manager shalI for such assignment receive additional compensation in an
amount not to excee-& ,$75.00 per month. Such designation shall not constitute a
promotion in rank, .and such designation and the accompanying supplement shall cease
uison reassignment ,.,_Any such action under this subsection shall be initiated by the
CIA& of the Paducah', Police Department and approved by the City Manager.
(h) A. ,ser_geant who is regularly assigned as an assistant shift commander
I. orn officer in charge _of'a division by the chief of the Paducah Police Department, after
approval by the City_, Manager, shall for such assignment receive additional compensa-
tion in. an �ai4ount:_not toexceed t$.5.Ur.:0.0 per month.
(i) Upon the recommendation. ,of his shift commander -,or - captain Ari.charge
of,a..division-Land,--the department executive officer, and the certification of the Chief
'of the Paducah Police Department, that a patrolman possesses qualifications and has
achieved standards ofI performance established within the department, after approval
by the City Manager, a patrolman may be designated a "First Class Patrolman" after
successfully completing a minimum of five (5) years of service with the department,
and may be designated a "Senior Patrolman" after successfully completing a minimum
of eight (8) years of service with the department. A First Class Patrolman shall
receive additional compensation to be designated as a performance incentive supplement
in an amount not to exceed $25.00 per month. A Senior Patrolman shall receive addi-
tional compensation to be designated as a performance incentive supplement in an
amount not to exceed $50.00 per month. Designation as a First Class Patrolman or
-SeniorP-atrolman shal-l- not, constitute a promotion in rank, and such designation and
the. accompanying,performance incentive supplement shall cease upon failure by a
,p4trolman to maintain: the .level of qualifications and standards of performance for which
he, was originally .certified to possess.

(j) A patrolman who is regularly assigned to investigative or specialized
duties by the Chief of the Paducah Police D6pArtmbhtaffd with. the -. approval of' the

SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect and retroactive
