ORDINANCE NO. 78-6-1577
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 25-1 "NUMBER, RANK AND SALARIES OF
MEMBERS OF DEPARTMENT" OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH,
KENTUCKY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That Section 25-1 "Number, rank and salaries of members
of department", of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be
amended and reordained so that said section as amended and reordained shall here-
after read as follows:
"Sec. 25-1. Number, rank and salaries of members of department.
(a) The number and rank of members of the police department of the
City of Paducah -f and ,their monthly salaries,provided- provided -.said salaries are -`hot changed
by any annual apportionment ,ordinance .Hereafter- adopted -shall be ;as follows:

* Pay rate increase at this level can be made upon certification
by the
Chief of Police that
a patrolman performs all routine duties in a satisfactory manner,
and after approval
of the City Manager.

(f) A captain who is regularly assigned as a shift commander or officer
in charge of a division by the Chief of the Paducah Police Department, after approval
by the City Manager, shall for such assignment receive additional compensation in an
amount not to exceed $75.00 per month. Such designation shall not constitute a
promotion in rank and such designation and the accompanying supplement shall cease
upon reassignment. Any such action under_ this subsection shall be initiated by the
Chief of the Paducah Police Department and approved by the City Manager.
(g) A sergeant who is regularly assigned as an assistant shift commander
or officer in charge of a division by the chief of the Paducah Police Department, after
approval by the City Manager, shall for such assignment receive additional compensa-
tion in an amount not to exceed $50.00 per month.
- (h):. _-Upon the recommendation of his shift commander or captain in charge
of- a,- division and the department executive officer, and the certification of the Chief
sof the Paducah Police Department, that a patrolman possesses qualifications and has
achieved standards ---of, performance established within the department, after approval
bythe City Manager, a patrolman may be designated a "First Class Patrolman" after
successfully comP.leting a minimum of five (5) years of service with the= department,
and may be desigpgted a "Senior Patrolman" after successfully completing a minimum
of I ght (8) years raft service with the department. A First Class Patrolman shall
receive. -additional _compensation,_to,,e- designated as a performance --incentive supplement
in an amount not to exceed $"25:_. 00_ ,p.er";;month;.--.A- Senior •: Patrolman -.shall :receive- addi-
tional compensation jo be designated as a performance incentive supplement in an
amount not to exceed $50.00 per month. Designation as a First Class Patrolman or
Senior Patrolman shall not constitute a promotion in rank; and such designation and
the accompanying performance incentive supplement shall cease upon failure by a
patrolman to maintain the level of qualifications and standards of performance for which
he was originally certified to possess.
(i) A patrolman who is regularly assigned to investigative or specialized
duties by the Chief of the Paducah Police Department and with the approval of the
City Manager, shall, after the first month of such assignment, receive additional
compensation in an amount not to exceed $3.00 per day for each day so worked.
(j) All members of the department shall receive an initial clothing allowance
of $200.00, and in the event such member shall fail to serve in the department for more
than seventy-five (75) days, all clothing purchased with the initial clothing allowance
shall be returned to the department. The department shall furnish all leather items

of equipment, except shoes, which items shall remain the property of the department
and shall be" returned to the department upon` the departure of a -member from the
department for any reason other than retirement" .
SECTION 2. This ordinance amends' Section 1'6f an ordinance originally
enacted on August 5, 1952, and which 'was last amended by Ordinance No. 77=8=1456.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect as of July 3, 1978.
