ORDINANCE NO. 78-5-1565
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 10-53, "REFUSE DEPARTMENT" OF THE
CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That Section 10-53 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and
reordained shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sec. 10-53. Refuse Department.
(a) There is hereby authorized and created the following positions in the
refuse (sanitation) department, and the salary of each position, provided the amount
of such salary is not changed under any apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted,
shall be as follows:

Collections (23 positions)
Truck drivers, class "A" (3 positions)
Truck drivers (8 positions)
Equipment operator "A" (3 positions)
Laborer (1 position)

(b) Collectors shall be paid at the rate of $4.35 per hour for the first
six months of employment; at the expiration of six months $4.40 per hour; at the
expiration of one year $4.45 per hour; and at the expiration of two years $4.50
per hour, such increases to be made upon recommendation of the city manager.
(c) Collectors assigned to operate vehicular collection equipment shall be
assigned on the basis of seniority and qualifications and shall receive an additional
$0.10 per hour for hours worked in the operation of the vehicles.
(d) All other positions of hourly employment, except class "A" truck
drivers, shall be paid at the base hourly rate for the first six months of employment;
and at the expiration of six months the rate of pay shall be increased by $0.05 per
hour; such increases to be made upon recommendation of the city manager.
(e) The office clerk shall be paid at the rate of $575.00 for the first
year of employment; at the expiration of one year $600.00 per month; at the
expiration of two years $625.00 per month; and at the expiration of three years,
$650.00 per month, such increases to be made upon recommendation of the city
manager.
