AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING

10-55;
10-56;
10-59; AND 10-61, "CIVIL
SERVICE"
OF THE CODE
OF ORDINANCES
OF THE
CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That Section 10-52 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and
reordained shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sec. 10-52. Street department - generally.
(a) There is hereby authorized and created the following positions in the
street department, and the salaries of each position, provided the amount of such salary
is not changed under any apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted, shall be as
follows:

(b) Office manager shall be paid at the rate of $719.00 per month for the
first year of employment; at the expiration of one year $737.00 per month; and at the
expiration of two years $747.00 per month, such increases to be made upon recom-
mendation of the city manager.

(c) Laborers shall be paid at the rate of $4.35 per hour for the first six
months of employment; at the expiration of six months $4.40 per hour; at the expiration
of one year $4.45 per hour; and at the expiration of two years $4.50 per hour, such
increases to be made upon recommendation of the city manager.
(d) All other positions of hourly employment shall be paid at the base hourly
rate for the first six months of employment, and at the expiration of six months the
rate of pay shall be increased by $0.05 per hour, such increases to be made upon
recommendation of the city manager".
SECTION 2. That Section 10-53 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and
reordained shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sec. 10-53. Refuse department.
(a) There is hereby authorized and created the following positions in the
refuse (sanitation) department, and the salary of each position, provided the amount
of such salary is not changed under any apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted,
shall be as follows:

Collectors (23 positions) 4.35
Truck drivers, class "A" (3 positions) 4.86
Truck drivers (8 positions) 4.62
Equipment operator "A" (2 positions) 5.21
Laborer (1 position) 4.35
(b) Collectors shall be paid at the rate of $4.35 per hour for the first six
months of employment; at the expiration of six months $4.40 per hour; at the expiration
of one year $4.45 per hour; and at the expiration of two years $4.50 per hour, such
increases to be made upon recommendation of the city manager.
SECTION 3. That Section 10-54 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and
reordained shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sec. 10-54. Cemetery department.
(a) There is hereby authorized and created the following positions in the
cemetery department, and the salary of each position, provided the amount of such salary
is not changed under any apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted, shall be as follows:

(b) Laborers shall be paid at the rate of $4.35 per hour for the first six
months of employment; at the expiration of six months $4.40 per hour; at the expiration
of one year, $4.45 per hour; and at the expiration of two years, $4.50 per hour, such
increases to be made upon recommendation of the city manager.
(c) All other positions of hourly employment shall be paid at the base hourly
rate for the first six months of employment; and at the expiration of six months the
rate of pay shall be increased by $0.05 per hour; such increases to be made upon
recommendation of the city manager".
SECTION 4. That Section 10-55 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and
reordained shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sec. 10-55. Floodwall department.
(a) There is hereby authorized and created the following positions in the
floodwall department, and the salary of each position, provided the amount of such salary
is not changed under any apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted, shall be as follows:

Floodwall chief foreman 1,042.00
Floodwall maintenance operators (3 positions) 850.00
Floodwall maintenance man "A" (operator) (1 position) 952.00
(b) The chief foreman shall be paid at the rate of $1,042.00 per month for
the first six months of employment; at the expiration of six months $1,052.00 per month;
and at the expiration of one year $1,062.00 per month, such increases to be made upon
recommendation of the city manager.
(c) Maintenance men shall be paid at the rate of $850.00 per month for the
first six months of employment; at the expiration of six months $860.00 per month; at the
expiration of one year $870.00 per month; at the expiration of two years $880.00 per
month, and at the expiration of three years $890.00 per month, such increases to be made
upon recommendation of the city manager".
SECTION 5. That Section 10-56 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and
reordain6& shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sec. 10-56. Sewage disposal department.
(a) There is hereby authorized and created the following positions in the
sewage disposal department, and the salary of each position, provided the amount of
such salary is not changed under any apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted,
shall be as follows:

(b) Operators shall be paid at the rate of $850.00 per month for the first
six months of employment; at the expiration of six months $860.00 per month; at the
expiration of one year $870.00 per month; at the expiration of two years $880.00 per
month; and at the expiration of three years $890.00 per month, such increases to be
made upon recommendation of the City Manager.
(c) Operator trainee shall be paid at the rate of $775.00 per month for the
first year of employment; at the expiration of one year $800.00 per month; at the
expiration of two years $825.00 per month; and at the expiration of three years $850.00
per month; such increases to be made upon recommendation of the city manager.
(d) Laborers shall be paid at the rate of $4.35 per hour for the first six
months of employment; at the expiration of six months $4.40 per hour, at the expiration
of one year $4.45 per hour; and at the expiration of two years $4.50 per hour, such
increases to be made upon recommendation of the city manager".
SECTION 6. That Section 10-59 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and
reordained shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sec. 10-59. Parks and Recreation Department.
(a) There is hereby created and authorized the following positions in the
parks and recreation department, and the salary of each position, provided the amount
of such salary is not changed under any apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted,
shall be as follows:

(b) The office manager shall be paid at the rate of $719.00 per month for the

first year of employment; at the expiration of one year

(c) All other positions of hourly employment
shall be paid at the base, hourly

SECTION 7. That Section 10-61 of the Code of Ordinaxnces__ of the. City of
Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and. reordained so^ that

(b) The chief inspector shall perform the duties formerly performed by the
building inspector and the electrical inspector, and said building and electrical inspector
shall be under the direct supervision of the city manager .
(c) Maintenance

of $0.05 per `hour; at the expiration of one year there may be an additional increase of
$0.05 'per hour; and at the expiration 'of two years- there may be an additional increase
of $0.05er hour, such increases to be made u on recommendation p p mmendation of the city manager.
(e) Tie clerk -typist shall be paid at the rate of $550.00 per month -for the
first six months of employment; at the expiration of six months $595.00 per month; at
the expiration of one year $605.00 per month; at the expiration of two years $615.00
per month; and at the expiration of three years $625.00 per month, such increases to be
made upon recommendation of the city manager.
(f) The chief of the maintenance division may designate one employee in his
department `to act 'as a lead -man or part-time working foreman to serve in such capacity
at the direction of the chief of the maintenance division, or at such times as the chief
of the maintenance division is on leave. The employee so designated shall be paid an
additional $0.15 per hour during such times as the employee 'designated` actually serves
in such.7capacity. "
(g) The City Clerk shall be paid at the rate of $1,008 per month for the
first six months of employment; at the expiration of six months $1,018.00 per month;
at the expiration of one year $1,028.00 per month; at the expiration of two years
$1,038.,00 per month; and at the expiration of four years $1,048.00 per month; such
increases to be made upon recommendation of the city manager.
(h) The Administrative Clerk shall be paid at the rate of' $789.00 per month
for the first six months
of employment; at the expiration
of six
months $799.00 per
month; at the expiration
of one year $809.00 per month;
at the-
expiration of two years
$819.00 per month and at the expiration of four years $829.00 per month; such increases
to be made upon recommendation of the city manager".

SECTION 8. This ordinance amends Sections 10-52, 10-53, 10-54, 10-55,
10-56, 10-59 and 10-61 of Ordinance No. 77-12-1503, adopted by the Board of
Commissioners on December 13, 1977.
SECTION 9.
This ordinance shall be 'in full force and effect and retroactive
to ' May 8, 1978. _
