HomeMy WebLinkAboutMO # 1478MUNICIPAL ORDER NO. 1478 A MUNICIPAL ORDER DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER AND STAFF TO EXCLUDE THE STATE INCENTIVE PAY IN THE BASE HOURLY RATE OF PADUCAH FIREFIGHTERS FOR THE PURPOSE OF CALCULATING SCHEDULED OVERTIME PAYMENT AND BY DOING SO TO GENERATE FOR EACH PADUCAH FIREFIGHTER A 4% INCREASE TO BASE WAGE EFFECTIVE WITH THE OCTOBER 2, 2009 PAYDAY, FURTHER THE CITY REPEALS MUNICIPAL ORDER NO. 1246 WHEREAS, the State of Kentucky provides $3,100 per year per firefighter state incentive pay to firefighters who complete on -duty training; and WHEREAS, the question of whether this $3,100 should be counted as part of a firefighter's base hourly pay rate for the purpose of calculating scheduled overtime has been resolved legally, and is no longer required; and WHEREAS, an increase of $1,860 per year had previously been granted to each firefighter with the enactment of M.O. 1246 which gave the equivalent to a 4.1% to 5.2% increase in the annual pay of each Paducah firefighter; and WHEREAS, in response to a request from the IAFF local president, it is the intent of the Board of Commissioners to give each Paducah firefighter a 4% increase to current base wage, in place of the no longer legally required $1,860. BE IT ORDERED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. The City Manager and staff are hereby directed by the Board of Commissioners to increase the current base rate of Paducah firefighters by 4% to replace the $1,860 per year additional state incentive overtime pay no longer legally required effective September 10, 2009 corresponding to the October 2, 2009 payday. SECTION 2. This expenditure will be funded through the Fire Department's annual budget. SECTION 3. This Municipal Order repeals previous Municipal Order 1246. SECTION 4.
