AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A
CONTRACT FOR THE PURCHASE OF A PORTION OF THE HENNEBERGER INSURANCE
BUILDING FOR THE SUM OF $15,000.00
WHEREAs, on September 25, 1979 the Board of Commissioners of the City
of Paducah authorized the City Manager to enter into negotiations for the purchase
of a portion of the Henneberger Insurance building, and
WHEREAS, the City Manager has conducted negotiations with the owners
of said parcel of real estate.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized
to (enter into a contract for the purchase of a portion of the Henneberger Insurance
Building, as hereinafter more particularly described, for the sum of $15,000.00:
Beginning at a point on South 5th Street 158.35 feet from the
southwest 'corner of the intersection of South 5th Street and
Broadway; thence with a 90 degree angle in a northeasterly
direction a distance of -24.0 feet to -a point; thence with -a 90 -
degree angle in a southeasterly direction a distance of 14.90
feet to the " soutYeasterly corner of an alley; thence with a 90
degree angle in a southwesterly direction a distance of 24 feet
to a point on South 5th -Street; thence with a 90 degree angle
in a northwesterly direction, along the east side of South 5th
Street, a distance of - 14.90 feet to the point of beginning .
SECTION 2. 'The contract for purchase shall be subject to certification
by the Corporation: Counsel that the title to said property is 'merchantable.
SECTION 3 - An emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance shall
therefore be introduced and remain on file for public inspection for at least one
week in the completed form in which -it shall be put upon its final passage, and
if adopted shall be in full force and effect immediately thereafter.
