ORDINANCE NO. 79-6-1730
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 25-1 "NUMBER, RANK AND SALARIES OF
MEMBERS OF DEPARTMENT" OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH,
KENTUCKY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That Section 25-1 "Number, rank and salaries of members
of department", of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be
amended and reordained so that said section as amended and reordained shall here-
after read as follows:
"Sec. 25-1. Number, rank and salaries of members of department.
(a) The number and rank of members of the police department of the
City of Paducah and their monthly salaries, provided said salaries are not changed
by any annual apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted shall be as follows:

(b) The chief of the Paducah Police Department shall be paid at the following
listed rates upon satisfactory completion of consecutive years of service with the
Paducah Police Department:

(f) Patrolmen shall be paid at the following listed rates upon satisfactory

Pay rate increase at this level 'can be made upon certification by the
Chief of Police 'that a patrolman performs all routine duties ' in a satisfactory manner,
and after approval of the 'City Manager. `
'(g) A captain who is regularly assigned as a shift commander or officer
in charge of a division by the Chief of the Paducah Police Department, after approval
by the City Manager, shall for such assignment receive `additional compensation in an
amount not to exceed $75.00 per month. Such designation shall not -constitute a

promotion in rank and such designation and the accompanying supplement shall cease
upon reassignment. Any such action under this subsection shall be initiated by the
Chief of the Paducah Police Department and approved by the City Manager'.
(h) A sergeant who is regularly assigned as an assistant shift commander
or officer in charge of a division- by the chief of the Paducah Police Department, after
approval by the City Manager, shall for such assignment receive additional compensa-
tion in an amount not to exceed $50.00 per month.
(i) Upon the 'recommendation of his shift commander or captain in charge
of a division and the department executive officer, and the certification of the Chief
of the Paducah Police Department, that a patrolman possesses qualifications and has
achieved standards of performance established within the department, after approval
by the City Manager, a patrolman may be designated a "First Class Patrolman" after
successfully
completing a
minimum of five (5) years of service
with the department,
and may be
designated a
"Senior Patrolman" after successfully
completing a minimum
of eight
(8) years
of service with the
department.
A First Class
Patrolman
shall
receive
additional
compensation to be
designated as
a performance
incentive
supplement
in an amount not to exceed $25.00 per month. A Senior Patrolman shall receive addi-
tional compensation to be designated as a performance incentive supplement in an
amount
not to exceed $50.00 per month. Designation as a
First Class Patrolman
or
Senior
Patrolman shall not constitute a promotion in rank,
and such designation
and
the accompanying performance incentive supplement shall cease upon failure by a
patrolman to maintain the level of qualifications and standards of performance for which
he was originally certified to possess.

(j) A patrolman who is regularly assigned to investigative or specialized
duties by the Chief of the Paducah Police Department and with the approval of the
City. Manager, shall, ,after the first month of such assignment, receive additional
compensation in an. -amount not to exceed $3.00 per day for each day so worked.
(k) All members of the department shall receive an initial clothing allowance
of $200.00 , _ and._ :in -the .event such .member shall fail to. serve in_ the. department for more
than seventy. -five (75) days, ,all; clothing purchased with, the initial clothing allowance --
shall be returned to the department. The department .shall :furnish all. leather items
of equipment, except, shoes,. , -which. items shall remain . the property : of the department
and shall. be returned to- the department.upon the departure, of a .member from the
epartment t or any ,reason . of
