At a Called Meeting of the Board of Commissioners, held in the Commission Chambers
at City Hall at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 6, 2001, Mayor Paxton presided, and upon call
of the roll by the City Clerk, the following answered to their names: Commissioners
Abraham, Coleman, Montgomery and Mayor Paxton (4). Commissioner Smith arrived
late (1).
R & F NOTICES
Commissioner Coleman offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Montgomery, that
the Notice of Called Meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah for ✓
5:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 6, 2001, be received and filed.
*Commissioner Smith arrived at this time.
WORKSHOP
The Commission held a brief discussion about a Town Hall Meeting that was held by
community citizens last with night, March 5, at Burks Chapel A.M.E. and attended by
City and County Officials. The Commission discussed future meetings and possible
actions to be taken. Mayor Paxton designated Commissioner Abraham as Commission
Spokesperson to meet with Rev. Owens and report to the Commission.
Commissioner Montgomery suggested forming a leadership committee to develop ideas
to be discussed at future Town Hall meetings
Financial Overview — Jon Perkins
Mr. Perkins gave the Commission the following two documents:
1. A Special Major Funds Revenue Budget Summary ending January 31, 2001.
�2. A Budget Calendar
Theses items were discussed at length.
GIS update — Greg Mueller
Greg presented a slide show on the City's GIS system and discussed the purchase of a
system upgrade. Purchase of this upgrade will be approved at the next Commission
Meeting.
Report on Four Rivers Center — Rick Murphy
Commissioner Montgomery asked for information on the City's expenditure to date on
this project. After discussion the Commission decided to determine how much the City
wants to spend on this project. Jon Perkins said the city has spent approximately $1.2
million dollars to date. Of this amount, $500,000 was a Community Development Block
Grant.
Streetscape III
Rick gave a slideshow on this project. Installation of sidewalk railing was discussed at
length. The Commission instructed Rick to install railing as required for compliance with
ADA regulations, to install it only where specifically required, and to allow sufficient
space to accommodate entrances/exits at downtown merchants' places of business.
Upon motion the meeting adjourned.
