ORDINANCE NO. 83-5-2385
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 10-52, 10-53, 10-60, 10-61, AND 10-63
"CIVIL SERVICE" OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That Section 10-52 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and
reordained shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sec. 10-52. Street Department - Generally.
(a) There is hereby authorized and created the following positions in the
Street Department, and the salaries of each position that shall be paid upon satis-
factory completion of consecutive years of service, in this position, and upon
recommendation of the City Manager:
SECTION 2. That Section 10-53 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and
reordained shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sec. 10-53. Refuse Department.
(a) There is hereby authorized and created the following positions in
the Refuse (sanitation) department, and the salary of each position that shall be
paid upon satisfactory completion of consecutive years of service, in this
position, and upon recommendation of the City Manager:

SECTION 4. That sub -section (a) of Section 10-61, "Unassigned
ositions" of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be amended
nd reordained so that the same as amended and reordained shall hereafter read as

"Sec. 10-61. Unassigned Positions.
(a) There is hereby authorized and created the following positions not
assigned to any department of the City of Paducah, but directly under the super-
vision of the City Manager, and the salary of each position that shall be paid
upon satisfactory completion of consecutive years of service, in this position,

(b) The chief of the maintenance division may designate one employee in
is department to act as a lead man or part-time working foreman to serve in such
apacity at the direction of the chief of themaintenance division, .or at such
imes as the chief of the maintenance division is on leave. The employee so
esignated shall be paid an additional $0.15 per hour during such times as the
mployee designated actually serves in such capacity.
(c) The chief inspector of safety and street inspection shall perform
uties formerly performed by the safety officer and the street inspector, and
aid chief inspector shall be under the direct supervision of the city manager.
SECTION 5. That Section 10-63, Fire Department Switchboard Operator
nd Clerk -typist, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and
eordained shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sec. 10-63. Fire Department Switchboard Operator & Clerk -typist.
(a) There is hereby authorized and created the following positions in
he Fire Marshal's office, and the salary of each position that shall be paid

(b) The duties of the switchboard operator shall be to operate the
switchboard fire alarm equipment at the central fire station and perform all
other necessary services and functions in connection therewith. The switchboard
operator shall be under the supervision of the Chief of the Fire Department. The
switchboard operator shall not thereby become a member of the Fire Department".
SECTION 6. Due to the necessity of reducing the budget, an emergency
is declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect im-
mediately.
