ORDINANCE NO. 82-7-2281
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SUB -SECTION (a) OF SECTION 2-20, HOLIDAYS, OF THE
CODE OF ORDINANCES.OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY
BRIT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. (a) The following days during each calendar year are hereby
designated as holidays on which .all city employees, with the exception of the police
and fire department personnel, will be granted a holiday:
New.Year's Day (January 1.),
Memorial Day (May 30)_
Independence Day (July 4)
Labor Day
Thanksgiving._Day
The day,immediately_following Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Eve (December 24)
Christmas Day (December 25)
New Year's Eve (December 31)
Each employee's birthday
and such other holidays.as. may from time to time be designated by motion of the Board
of Commissioners. If any of the days mentioned herein as holidays fall. on Sunday,
Monday shall be recognized as the holiday. If any of the above holidays=fall. on
Saturday, the preceding Friday will be recognized. as the holiday.
As soon as possible after any holiday, the police and -fire -department
personnel shall be granted a leave of one day to be selected by the respective head
of the police department and fire -.department.
All other employees will be paid for recognized holidays not worked in an
amount equivalent to eight (8) times the employee's regular hourly rate or the
equivalent of one day's pay. Such other employees who are required to work on a
recognized holiday shall be further compensated at one and one-half (I2) times their
straight time hourly rate.
Members of the Police Department will receive double compensatory time for
actual holidays worked.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be retroactive to July 1, 1982.
SECTION 3. In order for this increase to be effective at the same time
other salary increases were effective, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and
this ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its passage with one reading.
