ORDINANCE NO. 82-7-2279
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SUB -SECTION (b) OF SECTION 12-19 AND SECTION
12-48 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That Sub -section (b) of Section 12-19, Number, rank and
salaries of members, of the Code of Ordinances be amended and reordained so
that said -'sub -section shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sub -section (b) of Sec. 12-19. Number, rank and salaries of
members.
(b) In the event a member of the fire department acts in a--
position of responsibility higher,than the.position the member holds, and
provided the period_of responsibility is in excess.of six (6,) hours during
any work shift, the member shall be compensated as follows: Effective July
1, 1989 1982, captain acting as assistant chief, $�7A9 $10.00 per keur shift
and effective July 1,.1981 1983, $11.00 per keur .shift;_ lieutenant acting as
captain, effective July 1, 1989 1982 , $7-A8 $9.00 -per heur shift and ef-
fective July 1, 1981 1983 $8r88 $10.00 per heu-p shift; fire fighter acting as
lieutenant, effective July 1, 1989 1982 $6799 $8,00 per.keur shift and
effective July 1, 1981 1983 $W799.$9.00 per hear shift. Such compensation
shall be paid for any condition creating an absence within a position for
which the acting officers are required to serve, including vacancy within the
position, illness, vacations and holiday times, acting in another position,
or temporary additional assignments. Such compensation shall not be paid for
assignments resulting from members taking accumulated time, operating on
work -back provisions, attending schools.or seminars, or for any other reason
than stated above. Acting pay shall be accounted for by the assistant fire
chiefs and payment shall be made annually with the last pay check each year.
Acting pay shall be subject to all payroll deductions.
SECTION 2. That Section 12-48 "Salary of trainees'' of the Code of
Ordinances be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and
reordained shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sec. 12-48. Salary of trainees.
Each person employed as an applicant -candidate for employment as a
fireman shall be paid, effective July 1, 1988 1982, the salary of $999r99
$580.00 per month, and effective July 1, 1981 1983, the salary of $869789
$610.00 per month, at the same time other city salaries are paid, and such

training shall be for training time at the rate of 40 hours per week. Upon
completion of sixty (60) days training as an applicant -candidate, the indi-
vidual shall upon -recommendation of -the chief.of the.Paducah Fire Department,
be assigned for training with a regularplatoon and be paid at the rate of
$2v70 $3.18 per hour, effective July 1, 1988 1982 and at the rate of $3-A8
$3.34 per hour, effective July 1, 1981 1983, until the completion of their
training and probationary period."
SECTION .3. This ordinance is retroactive to July 1, 1982.
SECTION 4. In order to implement acting pay and applicant -candi-
date pay increases, an emergency isdeclared to exist and this ordinance
shall be in full.force and effect upon its passage at one reading..
