ORDINANCE NO. 83-3-2361
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH
THE COMMONWEALTH OF KENTUCKY, DEPARTMENT OF STATE POLICE, HIGHWAY SAFETY
STANDARDS SECTION, TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PADUCAH TRAFFIC ALCOHOL PROJECT
(TAP)
WHEREAS, Paducah is the largest city in the Western section of
Kentucky, and
WHEREAS', Paducah serves as the shopping, commercial and medical
center for much of Southern Illinois, Southeast Missouri and Northwestern
Tennessee, and
WHEREAS, Paducah is the gateway to Kentucky Lake, Barkley Lake and
the Land Between the Lakes Recreational Centers, and
WHEREAS, Paducah interconnects with I-24, U. S. Highways 4.5, 60,
62 and -68, moving traffic in all directions, and
WHEREAS, the above have compounded all traffic problems and
accidents in this area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY -THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the Mayor be authorized to enter into a contract
with the Commonwealth of Kentucky,_ Department of State Police, Highway
Safety Standards Section to participate in the TAP Project (Paducah Traffic
Alcohol Project) a copy of said'TAP project is attached hereto and incor-
porated herein as if set out in full therein.
SECTION 2. The Chief of Police is hereby designated as Project
Director, and is hereby authorized to sign any and all documents on behalf
of the Police Department as Project Director.
SECTION 3. Total cost of the TAP Project will be $84,500.00, to
be paid entirely by the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Department of State Police
Highway Safety Standards Section.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be read on two separate days and
will be'effective upon publication of title and a certified summary thereof.
