JANUARY 15, 2002
At a Called Meeting of the Board of Commissioners, held in the Commission Chambers
at City Hall at 4:00 p.m., January 15, 2002, Mayor Paxton presided, and upon call of the
roll by the City Clerk, the following answered to their names: Commissioners Abraham,
Coleman, Montgomery and Mayor Paxton (4). Commissioner Smith arrived after the roll
call (1).
R & F NOTICES
CD Commissioner Montgomery offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Coleman, that
the Notice of Called Meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah for
4:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 15, 2002, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the roll,
yeas, Commissioners Abraham, Coleman, Montgomery, Smith and Mayor Paxton (5).
WORKSHOP
DOWNTOWN CONVENIENCE CENTER
Sarah Phillips, Tom Barnett and Frank Mosko discussed locations for the proposed
Downtown Convenience Center and asked the Commission for guidance. By a showing
of three hands the Commission demonstrated its preference for a modular center to be
located in the vicinity of Jefferson and Water Streets. The existing building at Third and
Kentucky received a showing of two hands.
GREENWAY APPLICATION
Mark Thompson and Tom Barnett gave an update on the Greenway application and gave
the Commission pertinent literature.
CITY MANAGER REPORT

CITY MANAGER SALARY INCREASE
Commissioner Smith offered motion, seconded by Mayor Paxton, that the annual salary
of the City Manager be increased by $5,000.00. Discussion was held. Adopted on call of ✓
the roll, yeas, Commissioners Coleman, Smith and Mayor Paxton (3). Nays,
Commissioners Abraham and Montgomery (2).
DARYL TUBBS, LOCAL IAFF PRESIDENT
Firefighter Tubbs addressed the Commission about an ordinance prohibiting retroactive
pay and said the City does not need this ordinance on the books.
COMMISSIONER MONTGOMERY
1. Recommended that the Commission adopt a proclamation declaring the week of
January 27 -February 3 as Community Christian Academy Week.
2. Presented a letter for the Commissioners to sign that will be placed in the City
Manager's personnel file
3. Suggested a workshop to clean up the Commissioners' Office and recommended
that former Commissioners be included. No date was set for this project.
Upon motion the meeting adjourned.
