At a Meeting of the Board of Commissioners, held in the Commission Chambers at City
Hall at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 21, 2003, Mayor Paxton presided, and upon call of
the roll by the City Clerk, the following answered to their names: Commissioners
Coleman, Guess, and Mayor Paxton (3). Commissioner Montgomery was unable to
attend the meeting (1). Commissioner Smith was late (1).
WORKSHOP
COLLECTIVE BARGAINING ISSUES AND GUIDANCE TO STAFF
The City Manager gave a power point presentation "Collective Bargaining Background
Information". This presentation represented all three unions, AFSCME, FOP and IAFF. 1 /
Commissioner Smith came in during the presentation. "
At the end of the presentation the three unions were allowed to give remarks applicable to
the presentation. Speaking were the following: Sgt. Shawn Maxie, President of FOP;
Pvt. Darryl Tubbs, President of IAFF, Lt. Barry Carter, Vice President and Lt. Todd
Warner; and AFSCME President David Casey.
This was an informational meeting only for the Board and unions.
The City Manager requested an Executive Session to discuss labor relations and
economic development for real estate.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
Commissioner Guess offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Coleman, that the
Board go into closed session for discussion of matters pertaining to the following topics:
Future sale or acquisition of a specific parcel(s) of real estate, as permitted
by KRS 61.810 (1)(b).
2. Collective bargaining with public employees, as permitted by KRS
61.810(1)(e).
Adopted on call of the roll, yeas, Commissioners Coleman, Guess, Smith and Mayor
Paxton (4).
Upon motion the meeting adjourned.
