ORDINANCE NO. 84-1f-2609
AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE -AMENDMENT OF THE FRANCHISE.AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY.OF
PADUCAH AND COMCAST CABLE OF PADUCAH, INC.
WHEREAS, the City and Comcast Cable of Paducah, Inc., entered into a Franchise
Agreement on April 4, 1975; and
WHEREAS, it is the mutual desire of the City and Comcast to now amend said.'Franchise
Agreement.`
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That an amendment of the Franchise Agreement between the City and -
Comcast Cable of Paducah, Inc. be entered into, said agreement to the Franchise Agreement
shall contain the following terms and conditions:
1. Comcast will be permitted to adjust subscriber rates effective November 2, 1984,
as follows:
a. Monthly rate for first TV/radio outlet from $7.95 to $8.45
b. Monthly rental of 36 channel set top converter from $1.50 to $2.00.
(Corded remote converters to remain at $3.00 per month rental and cordless
remote converters to remain at $5.00 per month.)
c. Monthly rate for each additional TV/radio outlet from $2.00 to $2.50
2. Comcast will add the ACTS Network to the basic service effective November 1,
1984
3. Comcast will pay to the City of Paducah a Franchise Fee based on 5% of both
basic and pay service receipts derived from the subscribers within the city
limits of Paducah (effective November 1, 1984)
4. Of the Franchise Fees paid by Comcast to the City of Paducah, a minimum of
Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000.00) per year (beginning in 1985) will be paid
to Paducah Community College for operating the public access channel, thereby
releasing Comcast of its franchise requirement to pay a.minimum of $20,000.00
per year to Paducah Community College for access programming. Responsibility
for the operation of the public.access channel will remain with Comcast.
SECTION 2. That the Corporation Counsel.shall approve ail -amendments to said
amendments to the Franchise Agreement.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be read on two separate days and will be effective
upon publication of title and a certified summary thereof.
