ORDINANCE NO. 84-7-2546
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE A LEASE WITH PADUCAH
PROMOTIONS, INC., d/b/a PADUCAH SUMMER FESTIVAL, FOR THE USE OF CERTAIN CITY PROPERTY DURING
THE PADUCAH SUMMER FESTIVAL, AND AUTHORIZING TEMPORARY CLOSING OF STREETS FOR USE BY PADUCAH
PROMOTIONS, INC., DURING THE FESTIVAL, FROM JULY 27 THROUGH AUGUST 5, 1984
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the Mayor and City Clerk be -authorized to execute a lease by and
between the City of Paducah, Kentucky and Paducah Promotions, Inc., d/b/a Paducah Summer
Festival, for the use of that property east of the floodwall and between the south line of
Jefferson Street, if extended, and the north line of Kentucky Avenue, to be used for the
Paducah Summer Festival, from July 27 through August 5, 1984. The lease shall make provision
that the Lessee save the City harmless under any and all conditions, that the consideration be
for the sum of $1.00, that the property be used only for Paducah Summer Festival purposes, that
the Lessee shall have the right'to sublease the property for such purposes and activities, and
that the Lessee shall return the property to the City at the expiration of the lease in a clean
and neat condition.
SECTION 2. The Chief of Police is hereby authorized and empowered to close to
vehicular traffic all roadways from the floodwall to the water's edge at and between the
entrances on Broadway and Kentucky Avenue, and the City hereby temporarily closes from free
public access and use all that area of land belonging to the City of Paducah and lying east of
the floodwall and south of the south line of Jefferson Street, if extended, and north of the
south line of Kentucky Avenue, said temporary closings to be from 12:01 a.m. on July 27, 1984
through 12:00 p.m. on August 5, 1984.
SECTION 3. Due the Festival beginning on July 27, an emergency ishereby declared to
exist and this ordinance shall be effective upon its passage with one reading.
