ORDINANCE NO. 84-4-2500
AN ORDINANCE CREATING SUBSECTION (e) TO SECTION 10-13, ABOLITION OF
POSITIONS OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That Subsection (e) be created to Section 10-13, Abolition of
Positions of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, said sub-
section to read as follows:
"(e) Notwithstanding the provisions of subparagraphs (a) and (b) above,
whenever, in the judgment of the Board of Commissioners, it becomes necessary in the
interest of economy or it appears that a position of a member of Local 1586 is no
longer required, the youngest employee in point of service in a department shall be
laid off and the City manager may make such reassignment of employees to positions
within such department as he may believe is necessary and proper. The employee of
such department who is to be laid off in this manner shall have the right to take
over the position held by an employee who is a member of Local 1586 younger in point
of service, if the Commission finds that he is qualified to fill the position".
SECTION 2. In order to improve and implement the contract with Local
1586, an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance shall be retroactive to
April 1, 1984.
