AN ORDINANCE APPROVING PAYMENT OF $51,490.05, PLUS PENSION CONTRIBUTIONS, TO
EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH FOR OVERTIME COMPENSATION
WHEREAS, prior to July 1, 1984, the City of Paducah allowed members of the Police
Department to take "comp time" instead of paying said employees overtime; and
WHEREAS, the Kentucky Department of Labor has determined that said practice was in
conflict with the Kentucky Revised Statutes; and
WHEREAS, the Kentucky Department of Labor has determined that various employees are
entitled to compensation for overtime work for the City of Paducah; and
WHEREAS, it is the intent of the City of Paducah to resolve this matter as
expeditiously as possible.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AS FOLLOWS:

made a part hereof as if set out in full, are accepted as a proposed settlement with the
individuals named thereon.
SECTION 2. That the City Treasurer is authorized to issue checks to employees
individually as a final settlement on all overtime wages prior to July 1, 1984. Said checks
are conditioned upon acceptance by said employees as complete and final settlement as
provided for by the rules of the Kentucky Department of Labor.
SECTION 3. The City accepts the above as a compromise and not as an admission that
said monies are actually owed.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be read on two separate days and will become
effective upon publication of title and a certified summary thereof.
