At a Called Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission
Chamber in the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 5:00 P.M. on October 6, 1970, Mayor
Cherry presided and upon call of the Roll, the following answered to their names:
Commissioners Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).
Mayor Cherry offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Fisher, that the
executed copies of the Notice of Called Meeting to be held at 5 o'clock P.M. on
October 6, 1970, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll_, Yeas,
Commissioners Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).
Commissioner Fisher offered motion., seconded by Commissioner Harvey, that the
Bond of Elvin L. Cooper d/b/a Cooper Plumbing & Heating, in the amount of $1,000.00,
dated October 30, 1970, be received, approved and filed. Adopted on call of the
Roll, Yeas, Commissioners F .skier, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor ,_Cherry (5) .
Commissioner Fisher offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Harvey, that the
following bids for sale to the City of a one-half ton pickup truck for use in the
Police Department,. be received and filed:

Commissioner Fisher offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Harvey, that the
following bids for sale of a street sweeper to the City of Paducah, be received and
filed:

Central Supply and Equipment Company, Inc.

Commissioner Harvey offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Fisher, that the
claim of Mr. & Mrs. William Cates of Route #2 Paducah, in the amount of $27.91 for
damages caused to their Oldsmobile on October 1, 1970, at or about 17th & Park Avenue,
when its windshield was broken by a rock thrown from a cemetery mowing machine, be
allowed, and that the City Treasurer be authorized to pay same after first obtaining a
full and complete release. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fisher,
Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).
Commissioner Harvey offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Fisher, that the
bid of Wilson Chevrolet -Cadillac for sale to the City of one truck, without body, be
received and filed. I further move that said bid be rejected. Adopted on call of the
Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5)

Commissioner Harvey offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Fisher, that the
executed copy of the Contract between the City of Paducah and Bowling General_ Tire, Inc
for sake to the City of new automobile and truck tires from September 1, 1970 to
August 31, 1971, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas,
Commissioners Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5),
Commissioner Hornsby offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that the
executed copy of the Contract between the City of Paducah and Belmont Equipment Company
Inc., for sale to the City of Two Cushman 3 -wheel refuse vehicles, be received and file

Commissioner Hornsby offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that the
letter of Mr. W.- L: --Borgerding, Genera -1 'Manager of -Paducah Power •S�st.em, together,. with
the schedule of electric rates which was approved by the Electric Plant Board on
September 9,-1970, be received and filed. Adopted.on call of the Roll, Yeas,
Commissioners Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).
Commissioner Hornsby offered motion, _seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that the
Board of Commissioners approve the sale by the City of @aducah to Mrs. Arthur Ware of
the southeast quarter of'Lot'No.'16 in Section 4 of the Mausoleum Addition to Oak Grove
Cemetery for the sum of $350.00, 'and that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a
deed of conveyance to said cemetery property. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas,
Commissioners Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).
Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that the
following bids for sale of three police cars to the City, be received and filed:

Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that the
following bids for sale to the City of three (3) one-half ton pickup trucks, be
received and filed:

Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that the
bid of Western Baptist Hospital for sale of 18,000 cubic yards of fill dirt, be
received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fisher,
Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).
Mayor Cherry offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Fisher, that the resignatic
of Rev. Sollace M. Freeman, Jr. as a member of the Commission on Human Rights be
received, accepted and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners
Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).
`j Mayor Cherry offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that upon the
✓✓'� recommendation of the City Manager the following personnel changes be made:
1. The following temporary laborers in the Public Works Department be terminated
Carmon E Hooker, retroactive to August 3, 1970
Joe L. Henderson, retroactive- to September 7, 197.0
Wendell F. Woodall, retroactive to September 22, 1970 `
2. Robert R. Cox be employed as a temporary laborer in the Street Division
of the Public Works Department, at a salary of $2.00 per hour, retroactive
to September 21, 1970.
3. George Meadows, Dog Warden, be transferred to the Maintenance Department,
as Maintenance Helper at a salary of $2.68 per hour, effective October 16,
1970.
4. Joseph Smith, truck driver in the refuse division of the Public Works
Department, be promoted to Foreman in said Division, at a, -salary of $525.00
per month, retroactive to June 1,.1970; said position being non civil
service; and that his employment under civil service be terminated as of
the effective date of this personnel change.

Mayor Cherry offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that the Board of
11 Commissioners approve the sale by the City of Paducah to Hamock Funeral Home of the
north one-half of Lot No. 420 in Block No. 6 of the Rushing Addition to Oak Grove
Cemetery, and that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to
said cemetery grave. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fisher,
Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).
Sell Lot Mayor Cherry offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Harvey, that the Board of
Rushing Add.
John & Beatrice Commissioners approve the sale by the City of Paducah to John & Beatrice Rudder of Lot
Rudder it
No. 419 in Block No. 6 of the Rushing Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery, and that the
City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery lot.
