At a Called Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber
in the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on July 7, 1970, Mayor Cherry
presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioner
Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).
Mayor Cherry offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Fisher, that the executed
copies of the Notice of Called Meeting to be held at 7:30 P.M. on July 7, 1970, be
received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fisher, Harvey,
Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5) .
Mayor Cherry offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Fisher, that the resignati
of Wilds W. Olive from the Board of Trustees of the Paducah Area Public Library,
effective July 3, 1970, be received, accepted and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll
Yeas, Commissioners Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).
Mayor Cherry made the following appointment: Wilds W. Olive having resigned as a
member of the Board of Trustees of the Paducah Area Public Library, I hereby appoint
Dr. C. P. Orr a member of said Board to fill the unexpired term of Wilds W. Olive, so
that the Board shall be composed of the following:
Dr. C. P. Orr whose term expires June 14, 1971
George Crounee whose term -expires. June 14, 1972
Jack Rottgering whose term expires June 14, 1972
Mary Yeiser whose term expires June 14, 1974
Lionel Minnen whose term expires June 14, 1974
Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and
Mayor Cherry (5) .
Commissioner Fisher offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Harvey, that the
claim of Jane Hedges in the amount of $486.60 for damage to her automobile as a result
of a collision with the city police wagon driven by Officer Eison on June 17, 1970, be
allowed, and that the City Treasurer be authorized to pay same after first obtaining
a complete and final release. Adopted oncall of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners
Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).
Commissioner Harvey offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Fisher, that upon
recommendation of the City Manager the following personnel changes be made:
1. Billy Joe Hillman be employes as Applicant -Candidate in the Fire Department,
effective July 16, 1970, provided by such time he furnishes, -at his expense,
a satisfactory medical report as to his physical condition, including an
electrocardiogram.
2. The following seasonal laborers in the Refuse Division:be terminated,
effective July 2, 1970:
James Eggilston
Edsel W. Edward
William Tolley
Ray Petterson
Percy S. Johnson
Dan E. Mills
William Patterson
Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear
and Mayor Cherry (5).

Commissioner Harvey offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Fisher, that the
Board of Commissioners approve the sale by the City of Paducah to Mrs. Birdie Banister
of the Northwest corner of Lot 428 in Section 29 in Oak Grove Cemetery (10 x 10 feet)
for the sum of $200.00.
He further moved that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of conveya
to said cemetery graves. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fisher,
Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).
Commissioner Harvey offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Fisher that the
claim of Bob Anglin in the amount of $22.50 for damage to his garage door caused
by a city refuse truck driven by J. L. Nanney on May 19, 1970, be allowed and that
the City Treasurer be authorized to pay same after first obtaining a complete and
final release. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fisher, Harvey,
Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).
Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that copy
of the motion adopted by the Paducah Planning Commission on July 1, 1970, recommending
closing of a portion of 26th Street lying between Kentucky Avenue and Broadway, be
received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fisher,
Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).
Mayor Cherry offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Fisher, that a Resolution
entitled "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO INFORM OUR CONGRESSMEN AND SENATORS
OF THE INTEREST OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH IN PERMITTING THE CONTINUED OPERATION OF THE
STEAMBOAT, DELTA QUEEN", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioner
Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).
Commissioner Fisher offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Harvey, that an
ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT
WITH THE INSTITUTE OF ELECTRONIC TECHNOLOGY AS CO-SPONSOR OF A COLLEGE WORK STUDY
PROGRAM:, be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fisher,
Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).
Commissioner Fisher offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Harvey, that an
ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE FINAL REPORT OF THE PADUCAH PLANNING
COMMISSION RESPECTING THE REZONING OF PROPERTY AT 5TH AND JONES STREETS, AND AMENDING
THE PADUCAH ZONING ORDINANCE -1961 SO AS TO EFFECT SUCH REZONING", be adopted.
Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and
Mayor Cherry (5) .
Commissioner Hornsby offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that an
ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 15-4 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES
CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas,
Commissioners Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).

Commissioner Hornsby offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that an
ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2-47 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES CITY
OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY", be adopted. Adopted on.call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners
Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).
Commissioner Hornsby offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear that an
ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF BILLY JOE RUSHING TO PURCHASE
THE INTEREST OF THE CITY OF'PADUCAH IN LOTS 17 AND 1:8 IN BLOCK 5 IN O'BRYANS ADDITION
ON CENTER STREET FOR THE�SUM OF $500.00, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO
EXECUTE A QUITCLAIM DEED", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissione$si

Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that.an
ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE CLOSING 26TH STREET FROM THE SOUTH RIGHT-OF-WAY LINE
OF BROADWAY TO THE NORTH AIGHT-OF-WAY LINE OF KENTUCKY AVENUE IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH,
KENTUCKY", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fisher,
Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).
On motion the meeting adjourned.
